Rocky Point’s Risky Business, call name “ Texx”

His name is inspired by the element of risk and a bit of a gamble..and this boy’s natural ability to point sure makes us smile!

Texx is a pup with a storied past! His 5th generation ancestry dates back from the 70’s-90's and includes some of the most iconic retrievers in history. This impressive lineage is filled with incredible talent from top to bottom.
He is line bred with Rebel With A Cause and Lean Mac, and includes Roughrider and Risky Raider ( GMPR APLA HOF). Other notable dogs are San Joaquin Honcho, Super Powder, and Candlewood’s Ramblin Man. His 5 generation pedigree is loaded with field trial dogs which includes over 27 FC, AFC, CFC, CAFC dogs, multiple NFC, NAFC, and 8 Hall of Fame dogs. His grandam has over 30 Master Hunter passes and was a Master National Hunter x4 with AKC

2024 is a wrap! We finished the hunt test season at the Cheyenne APLA test this last weekend. This year certainly came with success, failure, highs and lows. These dogs give everything they have and we can’t ask for more than that. We look forward to seeing our lovely dog family again when the snow melts!

Tikka - earned her Started Hunting Retriever title.

Aspen- earned her Started Hunting Retriever title.

Rip- earned his Seasoned HRC title and 3 APLA master passes.

Duke- started the year with no formal training, earned a certified APLA title, a started hunting retriever title, an advanced pointing retriever title, and finished with a master APLA title. To say we are proud of this dog is an understatement! Duke is owned by Brooke Barnes, and he is a 1 year old

Hoss- he joined late summer for upland training and earned his advanced pointing retriever title. Owned by Beau Reid.

Autumn- she earned 1 master pass towards requalifying for 2025 Triple Crown.

Skye- this girl passed the 2024 Triple Crown! 👑 She also earned another master pass requalifying for the 2025 triple crown!

Congratulations to Aimee and Macie! We had the privilege of watching Macie earn her 4xgrandmaster pointing retriever title yesterday and qualifying for the 2025 Triple Crown! You should be so proud of your journey! Macie is out of our Skye x Teddy breeding.

WOW!! What an exciting year we have had! Macie started the spring season as an APR HR. We have put some miles on, dealt with a heat cycle in the middle of the spring test season, ran back to back weekends in HRC in Aug, then finished the fall APLA season in WY. I am so grateful for everyone that has been a part of this journey! There are so many people that I want to thank for all of the help and support you have provided us! Basically everyone I have met or had any sort of conversation with at any APLA event! Know that all of your words of encouragement, feedback, ideas, and the “nice job” have allowed us to get here. For that I thank you. To my family and friends, THANK YOU for encouraging me to chase this! I cannot forget my training group, without you none of this would have been possible, you guys got us rocking and rolling!!! Can’t forget the breeders…. SHE IS AMAZING! Last but definitely not least, Wade, thank you for allowing me to steal your dream and literally running with it. (The pointing lab game was originally supposed to be your thing….) without your support and encouragement this would not have happened. Love you babe! We did it!!!

We have had the privilege of knowing/training and owning several of our Autumn/Enzo pups. These are definitely the most compliant, sweetest, and the easiest pups to train.

The unconditional love of a Labrador Retriever.

Murph (Big Red) seems to only leave my side when it’s time to hunt - even then, he’s always looking back to make sure I’m ok.

The biggest of all our pups - Murph is “Ferdinand the Bull” personified. I don’t know that we’ve owned a sweeter, more well mannered dog - especially considering his size.

He’s decided it’s his life mission to try and unseat Deets as “Dad’s Princess” 😂

Helping a client out, we have a seasoned level male here for training up for discussion!
Hoss is from Black Ice Retrievers, he has three seasoned HRC passes and is working towards his master APLA. He is clear on his genetic panel, good hips, normal elbows. He has monster bird drive and a gorgeous point! He would be best suited in a home without children.

They are off again!

Chris and our oldest son Tristan are on their way to the South Dakota APLA test for another weekend, a little bit of a shorter trip of 581 miles.

Last weekend our Rip boy went 2/2 earning his Grandmaster Pointing Retreiver title.

Duke earned his Advanced Pointing Retreiver title- owned by Brooke Barnes

And Hoss earned his Advanced Pointing Retriever title- owned by Beau Reid.

This weekend they are all running master!

Skye is also running master for a pass to qualify for next years Triple Crown!

We will update pictures when we have a minute of daylight to spare 😂
