Want to reduce mosquito populations in your yard this summer? Look out for standing water traps on your property, like clogged roof gutters, swimming pool covers, and empty cans, buckets, flowerpots, old tires, trash cans, and other receptacles that can collect rainwater. Mosquitoes breed in stagnant, standing fresh water, laying hundreds of eggs at a time. Even small amounts of water can help mosquitoes multiply when left stagnant for at least 4 to 7 days.

Top Tips for Tick Prevention:
✅When spending time outdoors, especially when hiking or working in overgrown foliage, wear long sleeves and long pants, so the ticks cannot find a place to bite.
✅Use a strong insect repellent containing effective ingredients, and make sure to check the labels for safe use, especially for children.
✅Regularly mow your lawn and remove any piles of leaves, brush, and debris where ticks can hide.
✅Regularly treat your pets with tick preventive medications. Talk to your vet about the right prevention for your pet.
✅Regularly check your pets for any signs of ticks, including between the toes, under the collar, under the arms, around the eyelids, under the tail, and around the head and ears. Remove them promptly.
✅Regularly check yourself and your kids for any signs of ticks, especially under the arms, in and behind the ears, behind the knees, around the waist and belly button, and in the hairline. Remove them promptly.

Do you know the signs of Lyme Disease? This dangerous tick-borne illness brings a wide range of symptoms that can affect both humans and pets.

In humans, early Lyme disease may present as fever, chills, headaches, fatigue, joint pain, and a rash, while untreated Lyme disease may worsen months later with more serious conditions, including facial palsy, nerve pain, and heart palpitations. In dogs, Lyme disease may present as fever, loss of appetite, reduced energy, lameness, general discomfort, and joint swelling.

Lyme disease can be treated, but it’s crucial to diagnose the illness as early as possible. Always monitor yourself, your family, and your pets for evidence of tick bites!

The special larvicide in the trap kills mosquito larvae only at the moment they pupate. The larvae in the trap will therefore die right before they would otherwise emerge into adult mosquitoes. These dead pupae are often eaten by the larvae and you will not be able to see them in the water. Seeing a lot of live larvae inside the station thus does not mean it is not working. On the contrary, the larval odors actually make the trap even more attractive to egg-laying females.
