Dog Tag Buddies is an integrative therapeutic program providing improved daily living and social mobility for veterans living with the invisible wounds of war. The program is focused on helping veterans live more fulfilling lives through training and building a relationship with their service dog. This helps them find methods to recognize and manage the symptoms of their disabilities, discourages

self-isolation, and helps find a renewed sense of purpose. Dog Tag Buddies is a 501(c)3 designated non profit organization. All donations are tax deductible and all services are provided at no charge to qualified veterans.

Hey all! This info is for Veterans and Active Military + Families. On Friday (this week) from 3:30-6:30 come join us behind Scheels to learn about adaptive recreation opportunities. Eagle Mount has many opportunities for vets and are excited about future opportunities/developments. Eagle Mount will be demonstrating/showing of their amazing equipment for cycling, fishing, and more. Spread the word!!! There will be a food truck (Rollin Ritos 🤤), Altana Ice Cream Truck, and several community organizations working to serve our veterans: Dog Tag Buddies ,Veterans Navigation Network Adaptive Performance Center, and more.

Eagle Mount Billings' Rec Vet Field Day is in partnership with VA Whole Health to introduce active military members, veterans, and their families to the VA's services and to Eagle Mount's adaptive recreation programs. Guests will learn about our adaptive recreation programs like cycling, climbing, fishing, skiing, and more. We'll have refreshments, activities for the kids, and other veteran-serving organizations.

Although they may have long put away their uniform, for many of our veterans the battle wages on. We are launching $5 R.E.D. Friday to help let them know they are not forgotten, and we are still here for them. But don’t worry, we aren’t coming for your coffee…we all need our coffee. Today was extra special for this team. They graduated as a fully trained service dog team. These two have spent the past two years learning and growing. Service dog training is not for the feint of heart. It takes commitment and perseverance as well as a certain amount of resiliency to meet the high standards of a service dog.

Excitement is building for our 3rd Annual Celebrity Chef Gala featuring the renowned Chef Andre Rush!

We invite you to contribute items for our live or silent auction, set to take place during the event on October 5, 2024, at the Northern Hotel in Billings. A momentous day here at Dog Tag Buddies, six teams celebrated their hard work. Congratulations!

These teams have been training for almost two years. Travel is always on their list of goals and doing it with a service dog is something they never thought possible. Dogs require a lot of exercise which allows their veteran to get out and exercise, too! 🚶‍♂️ We teach our veterans how to exercise their dogs, both mentally and physically! Last week, while we were all avoiding the -33 degree weather, it was hard to physically exercise dogs 🐶 Thankfully, Rum had the opportunity to get out some energy on a treadmill! 😊

This has been an absolutely incredible year! We cannot be more thankful for the support we've received and the support we've been able to provide. With that being said, we are going to take the next week to spend with our families and reflect on what this year has taught us 🙂 We will be out of the office December 26th and return January 3rd. Why you shouldn't greet service dogs

Greeting a service dog can put the handler's life in danger. Many people rely on their service dog for safety, and in fact, the law considers service dogs medical equipment. Service dogs can be trained to prevent a deadly drop in blood sugar, stop a person from going into a panic attack, help ensure the handler doesn't walk into a busy street, and more. If you greet a service dog without permission, the dog will be distracted and potentially could miss an alert. It's best to save pets for dogs at home 😁

We received the best surprise today! What we thought was going to be a meeting to talk a little about who we are and what we do actually turned out to be a surprise presentation of a $25,000 check from First Interstate Bank as part of their #BelieveinLocal grant campaign! To say we were shocked is putting it lightly. We are absolutely honored to receive this generous donation and want to give a huge thank you not only to First Interstate Bank, but also to the employees who nominated us for this grant. This wouldn't have happened without their support and belief in our mission. Thank you!

Today is National Watermelon Day! 🍉 Watermelon is a healthy and hydrating snack for your dog! Here are a few ideas for feeding your dog watermelon! 🐕 Cut up small pieces and toss them in your dog's food bowl 🐕 Blend it up and freeze in silicone molds 🐕 Cut up pieces and toss into a water dish 🐕 Freeze pieces and give to your dog as a frozen treat Does your dog like watermelon?

😮Did you know our dogs are trained to go to the bathroom on command and in any location? For service dogs and their handlers, it’s not always possible to find a patch of grass. Sometimes, the only thing available is mulch, concrete, or gravel. This means that our veterans must teach their dog how to go when told. Typically, their command is "go potty", "do your business" or "hurry". They are also required to pick up any mess their dog leaves behind 😉 😃Isn’t that pretty neat?

Today is World Chocolate Day 🍫 While you're busy eating that slice of chocolate cake, ensure that it is properly stored away from your dog. Theobromine, a compound found in cocoa, is toxic to dogs! Caffeine in chocolate can also be dangerous 🥴 The darker the chocolate, the higher the risk! If you have reason to believe your dog has consumed chocolate, call Animal Poison Control at (888) 426-4435 before attempting at-home solutions and/or contact your dog's veterinarian.
