🩺 Dr. Alex recommends consulting with one of our doctors to determine how often your pet needs professional dental cleanings, as frequency depends on your pets’s unique genetics.

🪥 At-home dental care tip: Dr. Alex suggests brushing at least 2x a week and experimenting with different pet-safe toothpaste flavors to see what your pet prefers. Start by using your finger to get them comfortable before transitioning to the brush!

Hi! My name is Nico and I’m an FIP survivor. FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) is a serious infection in cats that is viral in origin. The disease occurs most commonly in young cats, although it can infect older cats too. It affects multiple organs and oftentimes comes on very quickly. I came in for my neuter a few months ago, and the Burrwood team quickly noticed that my gums had a yellow tinge. After doing some lab work, the doctor was very suspicious of FIP and got me started on treatment. I just finished my last round of medications, and I’m feeling so much better! *meow*

1️⃣ Make your pet visible: Use a reflective or light-up collar/harness.
2️⃣ Layer up: Ensure both you and your pet are dressed warmly—especially short-haired pets, puppies, and small breeds.
3️⃣ Wipe paws, legs, and tummy: Remove any dampness after walks to avoid skin irritation.
4️⃣ Provide indoor activities: Use mind games or puzzle toys if it's too cold for outdoor walks.
5️⃣ Protect paws: Use booties or pet-safe gels like Musher’s Secret.
6️⃣ Listen to your pet: Trust their signals and take breaks when needed.

Bonus tips:
✅️ Keep your driveway safe with pet-safe salt.
✅️ Snow can cause matting in doodles, be sure to brush regularly and visit the groomer to trim feet for better protection.
✅️ Use a whisk for easy snow removal from paws and legs.
