Why Can Vaccinated Dogs Still Get Kennel Cough?

Our attentive resort staff noticed that one of our boarding dogs was urinating blood, which prompted us to take immediate action. After conducting X-rays, we discovered that she had bladder stones!

🚨 What Are Bladder Stones? 🚨
Bladder stones are mineral formations that develop in a dog's bladder. They can vary in size and number, and they often cause discomfort and urinary issues.

🔍 Causes of Bladder Stones 🔍
Bladder stones can form due to several factors, including:
* Diet: Certain diets can increase the risk of stone formation.
* Urinary Tract Infections: Infections can change the pH balance of urine, leading to stone development.
* Genetics: Some breeds are more prone to developing bladder stones.
* Metabolic Disorders: Conditions that affect the body's metabolism can contribute to stone formation.

⚠️ Signs and Symptoms to Watch For ⚠️
It's crucial to recognize the signs of bladder stones early to ensure timely treatment. Look out for:
* Blood in Urine: This is often one of the first signs.
* Frequent Urination: Dogs may try to urinate often but produce little urine.
* Painful Urination: Your dog may show signs of discomfort or strain while urinating.

Dr. Shei performed surgery today to remove the bladder stones, and we're happy to report that the procedure went smoothly. Our sweet Sophie is now on the road to recovery!
