Our office will be closed today in observance of Independence Day 🇺🇸 We will reopen tomorrow at 7am.

This day is such a special day for us and we celebrate in full summer fashion ☀️ We get to enjoy BBQ, outdoor fun like swimming with friends and family, and often times a night celebration with fireworks! However, most of our furry friends don’t feel the same. Please be sure to give them their own celebration today ❤️🤍💙

• Treat them to a new collar or even an AirTag 🛍️
• Keep the TV volume up and the lights on! May we suggest Bluey 📺
• Let them out early today and walk around your yard to be sure there are no ways to escape 🔐
• If you are leaving your pet at home while you are out today, find a secure place indoors for them and leave lights and noises on. Most won’t complain if a bed in the A/C is involved 🛏️
• This is a tough one… But NO human food! You don’t want any blow outs 💩 Instead make them feel special with their own treats 🍨 Hint: Patients this week voted the Frosty Paws ice cream was a fave!
• It’s gonna be HOT 🥵 All outdoor pets should have a cool place to go today and we recommend them be in that place by 11a. Heatstroke and road burn on the feet aren’t a way to celebrate. If you think your pet is experiencing heat related stress please contact Emergency Pet Care in Trussville at 205-661-2273 ☎️
• If you are enjoying fireworks and are around while shooting them, be sure to help clean up the mess. These pieces can be a real firecracker of a problem 🎆

🦮 We all hope you have a wonderful holiday and stay safe 🐈

🛑 EARS UP 🛑

We have a couple of important announcements to share. As most of you know, we have been hit with an overwhelming amount of new clients over the past 18 months due to clinics around us closing. None of which have had replacements take over, which have brought their clients to our area. We are so extremely grateful for all of you and all the wonderful support by recommending our clinic to friends and family. Dr. Woodruff and our relief vet Dr. Kniola are the best!

However, the unfortunate part of all of this is we have reached a maximum on the amount of patients we can see. We are a one doctor practice with one licensed nurse and have a great support staff. Our goal is to provide the most up to date, best quality vet care we can and to continue giving this to our patients, we have made the most difficult decision to temporarily hold on accepting new clients, effective Monday June 17. Our plan is to reevaluate things on September 1 and we are hoping we can begin seeing new clients again. Please understand that this was such a difficult decision and we do not take this decision lightly.

We have also began making changes to Saturday’s to help with the work load we have seen. We began offering a limited amount of Saturday appointments at the beginning of June as a trial and have decided to continue to do this as well as offering walk in spots on limitation. Saturday appointments do not open up for availability until the Friday before and walk ins will be allowed until the limited spaces are filled. Most often these spots are full by 9a some Saturdays. We also do not see extensive sick visits or emergencies on Saturdays as we are not equipped to handle these situations by staffing or time. Emergency clinics around us are available to assist on weekends. We will continue to close the 3rd and 5th Saturday of each month.

Our staff understands your frustration’s of not being able to be seen and other vet clinics around feel you as well. This profession is doing the best we can with the largest workload we have ever faced and the largest shortage of professionals and paraprofessionals. We wish we could see everyone but we just dont have the man power or hours in a day. Our Doctors and Staff appreciate you all so much and please keep an eye out as we will update here once we have reevaluated come September.

🇺🇸 MEMORIAL DAY 🇺🇸

☀️ It’s hard to believe summer is right around the corner and we are gearing up for our first summer holiday! Memorial Day has been crazy busy over the years and this year we don’t think it will be much different. Just a couple of things for you to make note of as we get the first week of summer going:

📍 Monday, May 27 our office will be CLOSED.

📍 May 23 through May 28, we will have a limited amount of drop off appointments to see the Doctor. This will allow us to keep open spots for patients needing in patient care and boarding.

📍 We have lots of room for boarding! 📣 We DO NOT take reservations, we are a walk in, first come first served basis. This is the way Doc has run her business for over 20 years that she has owned the practice. As she says, we are a hospital first!!! We will be keeping an eye on the weather for next weekend and depending on temperatures/storms, this will determine if outdoor runs can be used. If the forecast stays clear and in the mid 80’s like it says now, we should be just fine to use the runs.

📍 Tuesday 5/28, there are lots of baths on big discharge days (ie. day after a holiday). If you opt for your pet to get a bath or if your pet is receiving a complimentary bath because they have stayed 4 nights or longer, you must pick up after 2pm. Rain checks for early pick ups are not offered.

🛑 Once again 👉🏼 we DO NOT take reservations. We are a hospital first and our medical patients take priority. Like Doc has pointed out over the past several years, any room left will be given to boarders. Please feel free to call before you head our way to make sure we have room. Also, we want to reiterate that these are the rules put in place and we are following what has been given to us.

💙 We appreciate you and your furbabies trusting us and being able to provide the quality vet care you need. Just a little note to all of our newer clients that have chosen us for care- We are a one doctor practice with one licensed nurse. As much as we try to fit in all the fit ins that we can fit in, we are only humanly and physically capable of handling so much. Please understand it is never our intention to turn someone away (we want to see them all), but with 5 clinics around us closing and our own clients, we have felt the burn over the past 18 months and somedays we simply can not see everything. We also understand emergencies happen and not every situation warrants an emergency clinic visit, but we at least offer that as an option so you know it is available. Doc is only one person and does have family that enjoys her at home. And she is soaking it up as this is her last couple months with her children at home before all are away at college. Doc is seriously the best around (we know we are partial 😉) and is doing her best to serve this community for many more years to come!

Thank you all and we are excited for summer ⭐️
