I think that this may be true for people who live alone with a cat. The bonding will be stronger and if there is interaction with only 1 person then I can understand the mirroring. Add family members, or other cats or dogs and the cat will have his very own personality traits by bonding and learning to live with others, rather than mirror only one person. What do you think? It makes me wonder how Dr. Wiseman did his study. All of my cats have very different personality traits of their very own.

In the past I've had some clients tell me that the paperwork I ask them to fill out is to extensive. I remember when training for pet/house sitting, my instructor said you can never have to much information about a clients pets or home. You may never need the information provided in the forms but you never know. I ask for things like the location of shut-offs in case of an emergency. What if a water pipe broke? The location of crates and supplies if I have to evacuate the home and move their pets to a safe location. I ask for descriptions of the vehicles on the property so if one comes up missing I can give a description to the police. Well, a client had her car stolen out of her drive way on my watch. Contacted her right away to see if she loaned it, no she didnt. I called the police, and she called them as well. When they came to get description of the vehicle I had all the information they needed except for a license plate number. A vital piece of information I didnt have. So, I will be updating my client forms to include license plate numbers of vehicles that are on the property. Everything turned out OK. The clients car was recovered, with no damage. I was told that they backed it out of the driveway and rolled it down the hill, the reason I never heard any commotion during the night and why the dogs didnt bark. A big shout out to the Bisbee Police Department for the stellular job they do and for recovering the vehicle quickly.

The cats I sit for DO remember me. I interact and play with them when I sit for them as well as take care of survival needs as stated in the article. I think it also helps relieve any stress they may feel missing their owners, if you can engage them in play.

With the monsoon season comes bugs. Biting bugs that irritate us and our pets. Here are some safe sprays that can be used and what to avoid. If you dont want to buy over the counter you can make a safe spray that works well. fill an 8oz bottle half full of witch hazel, add 2 tsp of carrier oil, like olive oil, 2 tbsp of neem oil and 50 drops of cedarwood essential oil. Shake vigorously to dilute the oils. You can put it on you and your dog or horse. Wouldn't recommend this on cats.
