Does your pet have bad breath? This could be a sign of dental disease.
Dental disease, common in pets by the age of 3, is a painful condition that is easily preventable. If left untreated, bacteria can be absorbed into their blood stream and contribute to both heart and kidney disease.
With annual dental exams, we will look for any signs of dental disease. To keep your pet’s breath smelling fresh and their overall health on track, contact us to schedule their dental exam!

When left untreated, dental disease can impact your pet's heart, kidneys, and overall health - but it can be prevented!

In addition to regular at-home dental care, healthy pets should have their teeth professionally cleaned once a year. Thorough dental cleanings remove plaque and tartar, which cause periodontal disease.

Veterinary Technicians help the clinic perform at it's best. Most of the general public isn't aware of what Vet Techs do on a daily basis, which is unfortunate because they, and the Veterinary Assistants, are typically the ones who spend the most time with your pet!
Make sure to thank your Veterinary Technicians for a job well-done and for caring for your pets as though they are your own!

Dentistry!

Veterinary Technicians are responsible for cleaning your pets teeth! The technician will scale all of the tarter off the teeth, polish the teeth, take radiographs, and chart the teeth for the doctor. While one technician is doing the dental work, the other technician will be monitoring the pet under anesthesia to ensure that everything is going smoothly.

Technicians will also place numbing agents into the mouth when tooth extraction is necessary.

Anesthesia!

Veterinary Technicians are responsible for monitoring your pet under anesthesia to make sure they are handling the anesthetic properly, are appropriately anesthetized throughout the entire procedure, and that their pain management is appropriate for the procedure. This includes hooking the patient up to our monitoring system (which reads heart rate/rhythm, respiratory rate, blood pressure, SPO2, and temperature) in addition to our technicians utilizing their stethoscopes to listen to the heart and lungs of the patient.

Veterinary Technicians will adjust anesthesia as necessary to ensure a smooth procedure for both the doctor, and the patient!

Radiology!

Veterinary Technicians are responsible for taking radiographs of any part of their patient necessary. This includes the abdomen, chest, limbs, skull, spine, etc. Sometimes our patients must also undergo sedation in order to get appropriate views on x-ray, which our technicians are also responsible for monitoring to ensure that your pet is safely sedated by obtaining vital signs every few minutes and continuously monitoring them during their sedation.

Our technicians will also send off radiographs to other veterinary specialists when needed.

Phlebotomy!

Veterinary Technicians draw blood from many species on a daily basis. This includes cats, dogs, guinea pigs, ferrets, bearded dragons, snakes, turtles, and more! Practices that see large animals will also have their technicians draw blood from farm animals.

Our technicians run the bloodwork in hospital as well as send out specialty panels to many different Universities or Laboratories that require specific techniques in drawing, certain sample types, and pre-draw requirements.
