This is why you don't store the slip lead around your neck. Next week is the beginning of fair play.
Finally got these cockers to have some fun and not focus on listening to their "Master".
Pepper, is spicy. First introduction to the big dogs.
Not something we often get to do in ND on February, 5th.
Beau and Keka's curiosity and natural instinct was overridden by the scolding of the honkers.
This "Grinch" would never steal Christmas!
If you look closely you can see the dust flying. This covey of partridge move about the kennel yard and even though I watch them walk across the lawn while doing obedience, the dogs never flush them in the yard.

Belle, has lots of speed, style, and action. She is line steady by herself, and in a group setting. She has a tender mouth, a hard flush, and a quick pickup and delivery.. she is not steady to flush, but the foundation is in place. Belle has very good field trial potential, or would make a great pet and hunting dog. Selling her so I can buy more fishing tackle, and lots of it.

Some indoor obedience with lots of treats, a healthy serving of food , and the AC set at 69 degrees makes for good napping contions.
I'm so tired of obedience!
One nice thing about the North Dakota winters is the warm up that we comes in early to mid January. Makes all the snow go away.
Hurricane Sally showing very little interest in the place-board at -2°.
Have a gun shy/noise sensitive dog? Have a client with a gun shy/noise sensitive dog? This is what we do at Absolute Gun Dogs to help. We've yet to have a dog that this process did not work to solve the gun shy issue.
A gun shy dog will have one of two reactions to the noise. 1. They will run back to you for safety, or, 2. They will run away from you and the noise and try to seek shelter. I believe the 2nd reaction may be more common by a dog the fears the noise and the source.
I've heard of lots of other noise issue corrections, and have tried many of them. Sometimes they have worked, but never with the sort of consistency that this method has proved, knock on wood.
This particular dog, Koda,, had previously jumped off the table one time during the introduction to the table(this is common, especially with noise sensitive dogs). As you will see in the video, she thought about jumping off, but her memory served her better. When they jump off, it's important to not communicate with the dog, simply lift them back onto the table and walk away. Let the dog take responsibility. Jumping off the table and essentially being jerked by the neck and struggling to keep her feet on the ground is what creates the proper environment for the dog to learn. Now, there are consequences for running from the noise.
I will be posting additional videos to show the transformation process, most of which can be viewed through her posture. At first, they want to run away. Since that is no longer an option, they typically just don't look at it.
However, after a few sessions 4-6-8 days of this, they begin to focus on the bumper and the dog retrieving. They will watch more closely and their demeanor seems to improve. On occasion it takes a little longer, but be patient, this works.
