It's pretty cool to come home after a long day and see Rowdy run across the yard to greet me by jumping on my hood. Everyday.
This time, he jumped up and kept going right up the windshield and onto the roof, so I stuck my phone out the window to see what he was doing. Turns out he just wanted to take a ride around the backyard for a better view of a dazzling sunset. I get it.

Last night, Rowdy brought a little field mouse in through the cat door and played with him in the living room for awhile. He's an excellent hunter, so I've become quite used to mice, moles, birds, snakes, even a squirrel. It's really not a big deal to me anymore, so I usually let him play with mice until he gets bored, then I scoop up a PTSD mouse and set him back outside. But last night, I got into a movie or something and completely forgot about them. This evening I was sitting on the couch while flipping channels and felt a light tickle on my foot. I looked down and saw this.

So I'm in bed a few nights ago and I hear this ruckus down the hallway. As I have become somewhat familiar with whatever "friends" the boys find in my backyard, I knew to grab my phone in case I see anything worth shooting. When I got to the end of my dark hallway, I hit the lightswitch for my living room and immediately see Rowdy chasing a bird around the room. The bird, who I will now refer to as "Maverick," flew right at me (probably for help,) and I managed to take a pic right as he flew by where I just stood. Rowdy was in hot pursuit and somehow lept up and caught him, wrestling him down on the floor at the end of the hall. Feathers flew on the carpet, so I ripped off my shirt and threw it over Maverick. I was able to catch and release him, much to the chagrin and confusion of an adrenalized cat. Just another night with this savage predator.
