I came home from the show with the crud and am finally feeling better. Still have a cough, though.
Sizzling Hot Zella, she has a kink in the very tip of her tail which is a disqualification. Two Judges, Bob Zenda and Wendy Heidt, placed her with a First Place and Best of Color. They both told me to just watch the kink as it is flexible. I wonder if the hard plastic cat flap to the new catio might be the cause. Even with LED lights and a silver carpet she disappeared in our black show tents.

Grandson Corbin showed Sizzling Hot Zhuri at the Glacier Peak Cat Show in Portland.
Her best placing was under Judge Bob Zenda who gave her a Best of Breed, Best of Color and First Place.
Corbin had a good time and enjoyed letting spectators meet the kittens.
Zhuri created quite the stir with her color amongst the Judges. We changed it no less than three times at the different Judges' requests. We finally settled on Torti Smoke. I will have to get her genetic testing done to determine if she is a Solid or Tabby base pattern.

Organizations such as FIFe DOES NOT issue pedigrees for these cats. The only Maine C**ns approved to have blue eyes are either completely white (w), van (01) or harlequin (02).

I am not going to tell anyone what to do, but for me one of the core believes as a breeder is to breed for the better good of the breed. Being informed is the first step to making responsible decisions for the long-term health in your breeding.

Key diseases identified in research:

1. Congenital deafness (can affect one or both ears – linked to the genetic mutation PAX3.937C>T)

2. Feline Waardenburg Syndrome – Similar to Waardenburg Syndrome in humans (WS1)

3. Neurological issues – Problems in neurological development, particularly involving myelination

4. Skeletal anomalies – Bone malformations, including deformities in the upper limbs, potentially linked to PAX3 mutations

5. Aganglionosis – A lack of nerve cells in the intestines, leading to severe digestive issues
