Norman was lost this afternoon when his dad fell outside while they were harness training. He slipped out of his harness. He was lost in Asheville in the Montford neighborhood near Courtland Place.

We are almost half way there! We’ve been searching high and low across the internet for a HIGH Transit! We need the extra height for the storage cabinets (and people height!) we are looking for a gently used B2 (Betsy the second) without accidents which most seem to have! If you have any leads or know someone who knows someone please let us know! Thank you!!!!!! We love you all so much and are SO happy to be slowly getting back into the swing of things!

Seeing this is a whole different feeling. To some it might just be a weird rusted crack. However to me, and to Dr Dragon, it marks the end of an error. This crack. This thing that we had no idea existed, this thing decided to rust and cave during hurricane Helene. This crack brought two friends. This crack ran the length of the right side as well as her friends to the left and also the back. This is what caused it to rain inside of Betsy. For anyone who couldn’t understand how or why would be totaled even though it looked fine on the outside…. I ask you what about the Biltmore? What about Jimmy John’s or any of the other locations who’s outside stand but their insides are destroyed. May Betsy rest in forever peace. May we all continue to grow, learn, rebuild and restore.

As many of you know, we work very closely with the rescues in this area. We cannot offer everything that a full service vet office can, but one thing we do is low cost male cat neuters (and vaccinations, medical exams, bloodwork etc).
There have been many people who have asked why we don't just get a pick-up truck instead of a new van, and the whole reason for that is the rescues need us. The spay/neuter resources are very low in the area, and though we cannot do spays, we do make an impact on the male cats.
So when we were deciding what to do, there was never a moment we thought to not provide this service. In fact, when we were ready to throw in the towel and close the business down, it was Hannah at Binx’s Home for Black Cats who said "OH NO YOU WON'T!" (among other choice words! Which is why we love her so) and she is the one that started the GoFundMe for the new van.
Last night, Nancy with Friends2Ferals sent a message that could not be more true: "It’s almost hard to comprehend, or consider, all of the aspects regarding the reconstruction to our communities. But, it would be better to disregard the intense details, without first appreciating the organizations itching in to try and get us back to normal, while we are also planning for our communities future."
Without the Hannahs, the Nancys, the Cedar Ridge Animal Hospital, the Pamlico Animal Hospital and SO MANY OF YOU we would not be standing today. We would not be starting appointments back up, but we are. We are building a new future, we are rebuilding our home, our practice and our love to the community. Thank you and we look forward to starting our community male cat neuters back up next week, though very limited with the spot we secured.

We’re here with the FANTASTIC vet team from Golden Corner Veterinary Hospital and Paws Mobile Veterinary for our low-cost vet clinic! The Old Weaverville Milling Company was kind enough to let us use their HISTORICAL space today to care for the animals of WNC! 😻

We’re here until 4PM! If your pet needs to be seen, come on by. Walk-up only. Sliding scale cash payment.

Thank you all SO much for all of your love and support! Not only are we getting closer to our goal but the outreach has been amazing. We heard from Cedar Ridge Animal Hospital about a non corporate small vet fund to help supplement funds for employee salaries! Shout out for them for that and that will be posted in the comments! The NCVMA’s Dr Karen Reynolds was able to secure a loan of a mobile vet truck from Pamlico Mobile Vet Services and some donations to get us up and going! While Betsy will be missed, she will not be forgotten when she’s replaced!!! We have gotten ALMOST all of our replacement products in stock! Monday we are helping with a pop up vet clinic and getting our feet rewet as we continue to regroup and navigate these new waters. We have a lead on Betsy 2.0 a used AWD Transit in Greensboro! Once we hit the $30k mark we can get her taken off the market and work on the cabinets etc!

Guys to say that this has been an emotional roller coaster for every single one of us will be the understatement of the “you won’t believe what happened in North Carolina” but I’m sure all the outsiders are talking about. If you are on this page, you know me. I am Heather. I am jokingly the “everything else, but the vet” and have been for a decade. Dr. Dragon and I have been through life changes together. We have shared the loss of several pets. She was at my wedding. She was at the hospital when my daughter was born. We are not just Partners in a practice together we have become family. Over the last 3 1/2 weeks I have gone from is she alive? To risking driving up the destroyed Route 9 to check on her to the what the heck are we going to do? We lost our van to flooding. We lost all of our product. We thought we lost our will. We’ve tried and tried to exhaust all avenues to not have to ask for help but being turned down by insurance, risking eviction, working without pay, filling RXs and mourning the loss of the area, we’ve been forced to ask for support.
Thank you for being there for us to allow us to be there for you and your beautiful fur children.

Wait for it….. we got back power! It doesn’t mean we’re up and at em but we’re trying! Heather Collins has been donating time with Friends2Ferals and Binx’s Home for Black Cats in collaboration with an amazing group and now with Dr Dragon having power, we’re just in need of a vehicle to get us around! Stay tuned, stay strong and stay safe! We love you all!

Hello to our beautiful Paws Family.
First off, we (Dr. Dragon and Heather) are safe as well as our immediate families and pets. We truly hope that you are as well.
In this moment we’d like to express to you that we are mourning with you during this time. Our home will never be the same. Many of you have reached out and service has been spotty for sure as the same surely goes for you. We are sorry for the missed messages and appointments.
As I’m sure you realize, we are mobile which is an impossible feat right now, without roads, homes, gas and we have lost every bit of product in which we own.
Unfortunately, at this time, we are forced to suspend all appointments and are not rescheduling until we are able to regroup.
Prescriptions will be approved as internet allows but please have understanding that this is not going to be as fast as normal.
Thank you for your understanding and please remember this is not our choice but the circumstances in which we are presented, so please be kind when I explain this to you as I can.
