Last April we had this beautiful momma cat come into our shelter who was very pregnant. She has been living life on the streets in a neighborhood where a few people looked out for her but they couldn’t take her in. We got a call on a Sunday, one kind lady couldn’t take her having another litter by herself. We reached out to Pocatello rescues to see if they had room but they were overflowing with cats and kittens. We had one empty cage so I hurried and got it ready for a pregnant cat and drove to Pocatello to get her. How this kitty ever ended up as a stray I have no idea. She was a sweet, lovable, gorgeous, green eyed girl who loved attention and was quite the talker. She quickly became a spoiled lady in our shelter. She was so big I really thought she’d give birth within a day or two but she held on for two weeks to the day I brought her in. Another Sunday morning, I came in and she was in active labor. She already had two kittens out (one had passed away, I suspect it was the first one) and she was pushing out a third. Two more kittens arrived in the next few hours and momma was a happy, content kitty. She loved to let me pet her while she nursed her babies. Unfortunately, another baby passed away a few hours after birth. But the three remaining kittens were nursing great and very active. I stayed most of the day with her, until late evening. She was bright, alert, eating well and she seemed to have a huge smile on her face. Monday she was feeding the babies and she loved attention. I did notice she was spotting a bit of blood so of course I Googled it. We try not to have pregnant or nursing moms in our shelter because we’re not there 24/7 so we haven’t dealt much with the after care. Google said it was common. Her gums were pink and she was well hydrated. She was eating great too. I tend to be paranoid so I made her an appointment with our vet the following morning for a check up. I stayed late into the night again and nothing had changed, Momma and the
We have some very handsome orange boys that are looking for their forever homes. Two are a dilute orange. Their descriptions are under their pics. They were foster in a home with cat friendly dogs and kids. INDOOR ONLY to keep these babies safe and NO declawing. #binghamcountyhumanesociety #adoptdontshop #rescue #orangecat #orangekitty
Four of these babies were found in a garbage bag tied shut in the middle of a busy highway. We can only thank God a good person thought a bag trying to move looked suspicious and stopped. Inside were six kittens, there were two orange kittens already deceased. The remaining four were covered in their own filth, they had been tied in the bag long enough to become messy. What kind of person does something like that? They are just babies! They are safe and being fostered by the caring person who found them along with the two tabbies. How many other kittens out there that are still suffering the cruelty of people? Either by intention, neglect, or indifference? #spayneutersaveslives #binghamcountyhumanesociety #theirlivesmatter #rescue #cruelworld #whatiswrongwithpeople #stopthecruelty #kindnessmatters
Orphan kitten
This less than a day old baby was dropped from a tom cat’s mouth when his rescuer came by. The tom had already killed his siblings. This is the reality of kittens born out side. Orphan kittens like him under three weeks of age have a survival rate of around 40%. He is drinking from a bottle and we will do our best to give him the future that his siblings didn’t get.
This baby girl was rescued from eating whatever she could find that didn’t make it into fast food dumpsters. She was covered in oil and dirt from hiding under cars and bushes in their parking lots. Despite her rough beginning, she purrs and wants to snuggle. She’s still struggling to make it and needs your prayers. So do all the other unfortunate, innocent street kitties who are still out there tonight. Please spay and neuter, their lives matter even though most will pass from this world without ever knowing a kindness except from their mothers. #spayneutersaveslives #binghamcountyhumanesociety #spayandneuteristhesolution #tnrworks #TNR #rescue #kittenseason #kittens #kindnessmatters #theirlivesmatter
