What’s one of the best ways to judge someone’s character? Watch how they treat a “nobody” when they are the greatest “Somebody”. Bob Avila went far out of his way to help me when I was a “nobody”.

Before we met, I had taught myself to train horses ( at least the little I knew) by reading “Ride, with Bob Avila”, his monthly publication. He was inspirational. He was my horse training hero. He really was legendary.

If the only accolade I ever acquire is being Bob Avila’s friend, that will be good enough for me.
