About me:
My name is Abbey Collier, and I am a Graduate Student at Virginia Tech on the path to Veterinary School. I graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2023 with a Bachelor's in Animal and Poultry Science with a focus on Pre-Veterinary coursework as well as an emphasis on Equine Science.
I currently work as an exotic animal veterinary assistant, but have been in the vet med industry as an assistant for close to 4 years now with experience in cats, dogs, small mammals, reptiles, avians, and zoo animals! I also have extensive experience with horses as I've been riding since I was little and have worked in the Equine Volunteer Program at VT since 2019, as well as been involved with the breeding and foaling program at VT since 2021.
As I apply for veterinary school, I will be spending the 2024-2025 school year at VT finishing my Master's Degree in Animal Science as well as working as the Graduate Assistant Manager at the Equine facilities on campus, and of course continuing my work as a veterinary assistant.
I will now be offering home visit pet services in the form of nail trims and similar services as well as pet sitting!
🐾Important Information for scheduling🐾
I do require that either the owner or a member of the household comfortable with the pet receiving the service must be available and present to help hold their pet as needed.
🐕canine clients,
- Owner must be okay with a muzzle (provided by me) as necessary
- Owner must have proof of up to date required vaccines available for safety purposes (this includes Rabies, Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza Virus, all of which are commonly given as two shots at vet visits)
🐱feline clients,
- Owner must have proof of up to date required vaccines available for safety purposes (Rabies, FVRCP + FeLV)
- Owner must have proof of FeLV negative test
🐴Equine/large animal clients I accept for pet sitting.
🦜Avian clients are case-by-case based upon my level of comfort based on the bird size and stress level with handling.
🦎Reptiles I accept for pet sitting and will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. I do have comfortability with a wide variety of reptile and amphibian species.
🐰Small mammals I accept for nail trim, ear cleans, and pet sitting services (rabbits, guinea pigs).
