Why the Shih Tzus:
When my children were younger I wanted to find a beautiful addition to our growing family. But what breed could offer the affection, companionship and lasting love ? A shih tzu. When I found out first and brought her home I did everything wrong. I went to a puppy store, bought the first one that tugged my heartstrings but we were lucky. She was our introduction to the love affair of having a shih tzu.
Rescuing vs. Buying :
I am a firm believer in ever puppy is meant to go to a particular family. When I receive my first contact with someone interested in adding a Shih Tzu to thier family I ask a series of questions. And from time to time I find that there maybe a beautiful Shelter Shih Tzu that is available that would make a perfect fit for thier home instead of placing one of our babies with them. I direct them to the shelter to check that avenue first. I offer to support them in thier newly acquired family member even if this little fur baby is not one of mine. As breeders we too have to help do our part to support our breed in helping the rescues to find the homes they need to. After all, if you are breeding responsibly you will not have puppies available all the time.
