Nikki is a 7 year old Lhasa Apso. He is in foster care, because his Mom is in assisted living and cannot care for him anymore. Nikki is an awesome boy, he is funny, quirky, tons of personality and exuberant (at times) loyal Lhasa boy. He adores woman, but does like men also. He will follow you everywhere, completely housetrained. He has only lived as an only dog, and no exposure to children. He would do best to be an only dog, though he can and does get along with other dogs, he loves his food more, and it can cause problems with other resident dogs.
He is a chubby boy, and I have already started his diet, and bonus, this dog loves all kinds of vegetables and fruit, so to bulk up his meals, he gets lots of vegetables mixed in, filling him up not out. He needs to lose several pounds. Now don’t let him sway you, he will tap your leg, tap the fridge, (he taps the fridge as he loves ice cubes) sit up like a chipmunk and his eyes will follow you, so you have to be “strong” and resist his adorable charm, but if you cannot, he loves carrots, so a good low calorie treat is much enjoyed.
He would love to live in a home with a fenced yard (bonus if you have a dog door), he is not happy when you leave, but remember he has always lived with someone who was home. Of course you can go out, he is not destructive, just very unhappy….be prepared to be bowled over when you return. Nikki is built like a brick, strong and powerful, so not a dog that should be with someone unsteady on their feet, his exuberance is strong, and another bonus if his new home likes to take walks, he would love that, and help his weight loss journey.
He will stand back when new people come into the home,(a normal Lhasa trait) but if he meets them a couple of times, he will be very obliging, and happy to find yet someone else to pet him, he loves that.
