We believe in agreement here - all of us need to be on the same page, working towards a common goal. Our dogs need consistency. So many of us spend our dog’s entire life trying to get them to understand us — we believe in helping you start understanding them. It takes 2 to hold a conservation. And that’s where the magic begins.

🧐Who we are
We are pet care professionals who have dedicated our lives to helping dogs. Specifically, “Reactive”, “Fearful” or “Aggressive” dogs. The Spicy ones.
🔶Thomas Carroll - As the owner of Blaine Kennels and Dog Squad Training, I have overseen the care of over 100,000 boarding nights in the last 10 years.
*30 dogs/nt avg = 10,950 x 10 yrs = 109,500 boarding nights.
I don’t share this to impress you, but to impress *upon you* the amount of hands-on experience we are bringing to this discussion. I have been out to Cesar Millan’s Dog Psychology Center in California multiple times to train and learn from the best in the world. We have spent time working 1 on 1 with Cesar’s top trainers. 3 of whom have been on site and taught at Blaine Kennels. Our facility was designed in consultation with Cesar’s head trainer, Todd Langston.
🔶Emily Hanson – Emily has been working with, rehabilitating & successfully placing dogs through her involvement in animal rescue for over two decades. Specializing in reactive, aggressive & fearful dogs – she found her way utilizing dog psychology. She also runs Follow Me Dogs (a dog training & consultation business) & has been managing Blaine Kennels for over 2 years.
We run the only Reactive Dog Daycare that I know of where your dog will be integrated into our Pack of mentor dogs. We are talking about the 1st or 2nd day they spend with us, they will be with dogs.
💪Our mission:
To provide a space where Reactive dog owners can discuss, learn, and share their experiences. This is a place you can come to for help. We will focus on real world results based on your situation.
Our approach is based on Dog Psychology, the study of dogs’ learning process and state of mind, and how to influence them. We address the root cause of why your dog feels the way it does.
We don’t put covers over our windows. We don’t turn around or cross the road.
We don’t relentlessly bribe our dog with food.
We don’t obsessively ask for eye contact to get through a situation, when that is only a temporary solution, at best.
We are Healers, not Dealers. We’re tired of “Behaviorists” who never handle dogs, as well as the rampant over prescribing of sedatives and mind-altering drugs to our animals. Maybe take a look at their diet first?
We believe if your dog does not get the appropriate amount of exercise (based on individual needs), it will never be truly fulfilled.
🐾 Tools:
We will use anything to help a dog work through, or better understand a situation. Creativity is key. Understanding what motivates the dog is critical.
🌭 Positive Reinforcement: Yes please. Of course, marking behaviors and rewarding the dog is very important. The difference is that we will teach you to reward the State of Mind, and not just what action the dog “did” or “didn’t do”.
🫡Disagreeing:
Again, yes please. We disagree with dogs when appropriate. It is much more effective rewarding a dog what they did correctly, when you also help them understand when they do things that you don’t agree with.
