YES I sanitize my tools! I have for 4 full Seasons now. It’s not any fun. But I believe it’s the right thing to do, & I believe that we ALL need to try to decrease the spread of Gall & Virus. For the love of dahlias.

Want to share a story about a hobby grower - a friends neighbor- has a gorgeous dahlia garden. She got some new varieties last Spring. Found in Fall that these new tubers clearly have gall. She doesn’t sanitize. Now her entire stock is at high risk of having gall💔She’ll discover whether it spread or not in the next 2 yrs.

BLOOMQUIST SPARKLE, glows in my garden. So many 4 - 6” blooms, often 5 on the bush, she puts on quite the show ALL Season long. Is an early bloomer💞

Ok - quick tip: I set aside a clump of my MM Buttercream. Cut the stm back to 1/2”. Now getting to it - stem is moldy & dark. Feels damp. So cut into clump & dividing it in 3 I found stem rot. It will spread into your crown - it’s dark brown & hard - but moist. If you find this dig /cut it all out until it is clear. On the left - that piece I need to do. I like to use clippers & exacto (utility) knife w/ sharp blade & be extra careful! Let dry well before you store It away in a medium (24 hours in my humid climate)

I want to say that my heart is breaking for California💔 I can’t imagine having to race out of my home w/ my family, animals, & only a few possessions to escape the fire🔥 I hope & pray that they get these fires under control soon!💯🤞

Valley Rust Bucket💥 This dahlia pumps out perfect 3” blooms all Season long. Love it, it’s one of my personal favorites💯(Bonus: a great tuber maker & easy one to store!)

Café au lait (CAL)💥QUESTION for you dahlia nuts: grown CAL for 10 yrs & blooms have always been 4 to 7” So is it really “CAL Mini” aka Jolene??? (It was sold to me as CAL)

All That Jazz lost her head (I was man handling the cut flowers🦧). Put her on an old board & was pleased w/ how great she looked. Her colors are soft orange, yellow, rosey red, & a purple -pink hue often seen in the center. She is MY favorite. What’s yours?

Wyn’s Mauve Mist. There really isn’t any other dahlia w/ this color. Very unusual. Sought after by brides & the Florists love it. 4 to 6” blooms, 4 1/2’ plant💜🦄

TIP: Had an XL Koko puff clump. I trimmed a few ends to check on tuber health. Had brown rings: which can mean poss. stem & crown rot. So cut ends of tubers - until inside all wht. Put into vermiculite. (Was now a smaller clump!) Today: 💯 rotten crown. I salvaged 3 to 4 tubers. PLS GO CHECK ON YOUR TUBERS😎 (Pic of Temple of Beauty)
