We still have appointments available for this Sunday and next weekend is open.

If interested in meeting one of our many birdies your first step is to fill out our online adoption application, www.ahelpingwing.org, if you do not hear back from us means we did not get the application.

Multiple visits required to interact with the bird you connect with. Your first visit is what I compare to speed dating, you will meet many wonderful and sweet birds and we see who you connect with, attention is paid for how birds respond, we base our adoptions on the birds input and tell all adopters that when we let the bird choose, it's always a good match! During the visit time frame, we typically perform a home visit as well. The home visit is a great chance to review bringing home a rescue bird, where to setup cages, dangers in the home that many people may not consider, diet, daily routines, etc

AHW disease tests all birds from finches to macaws that come into the rescue. We ask the same of all our adopters that currently have birds in their homes to do the same. The tests required are Chlamydia, PBFD & Pacheos. If you currently have bird and you’ve already had them tested wonderful, please forward the documentation, if not please have your bird vetted and the disease testing done.

Please welcome the new AHW Residents.

AHW strives on working with adopters and looking for the right connection. Sometimes birds are here for awhile and we just don’t have the right adopters, that’s where networking with like minded rescues works. We had a handful of birds that were here for awhile and we wanted to give them a chance to find their new homes. We also had the opportunity to help out and take in some birds from another rescue. Please welcome Ira & Coconut the SC cockatoos, Mooch the Hahns/Jenday hybrid, Prince the Cape Parrot (Yes, he only has one leg), Chico the amazon and an adorable family of 4 Java Finches and 2 zebra finches (not pictured). They are all under evaluation and not ready for adoption yet.

We were notified today that the judge dismissed the case regarding the “19” from the hoarding situation earlier in 2024! The birds can now be adopted.
