October is Pitbull Awareness/Appreciation Month! Pitbulls are incredibly sweet souls who are wildly misunderstood—unjust stereotypes and widespread misconceptions prevail. With love, nurturing, and compassionate training, pitbulls make exceptional additions to many families (including my own). It's vital to recognize that it's the humans, not the dogs, who should be held accountable. Pitbulls (ALL dogs) deserve love, kindness, understanding, and a good life. xoAmy

Come out tonight and have some fun! BINGO!

BINGO NIGHT IN BLAIRSVILLE!! Tonight's the night for our weekly BINGO game at the Blairsville Civic Center. Doors open at 6 pm, games begin at 7 pm. VOLUNTEERS ALWAYS NEEDED to help set up tables and chairs...be there at 5 pm to help out. Kids are welcome with an adult. ALL proceeds go directly to our rescue!! SAVE A LIFE...PLAY BINGO!!

Happy Story- Bankston is only 8 months old and lived an extremely hard life! He was rescued from a kill shelter where he was left to suffer with a torn ACL in severe pain and no treatment, and no home until a wonderful foster took him in and volunteers raised money for his surgery. We searched for a permanent home for him and found one!

Although he has never known a loving home, he is an extremely loving and sweet puppy. He wants love, to cuddle and to play. Since he is still young, he is playful and active, despite his injury, although he settles down when told. We are so glad he got the help he deserved. Thank you to all the volunteers that made it happen. ❤️

Our friends at Fannin County Animal Control received their No Kill Shelter award. This is the county that borders Union County where we are located in North Georgia. If you aren’t familiar with what a no kill status is, it means the shelter has a 90% or better live release rate. That is an amazing accomplishment with the overpopulation problem in our area. Congratulations FCAC!!🐾👏

We just received our no kill shelter plaque from Best Friends Animal Society.

We're very excited to be playing music at the grand opening of brand new "Castoff Pet Rescue" facility at 240 Patton Place, Blairsville, GA on OCT 28th 12PM - 4PM. Make plans to come visit the new facility, check out the car show, bring your pet for low cost vaccines and maybe even take one of their adorable fur babies home with you!!! See y'all there!!!!

Mattie Lou is an Old alumni...adopted out 14 years ago...still living her best life in Florida. She was pulled from Clayton County animal control with a very deformed front leg...we raised the money and she had surgery to fix her leg, then she was adopted. So happy she has lived her best life! Go little Mattie! ❤️

Scooby has been at the shelter for 5 YEARS now! Yes he is a big guy, no he doesn’t like all animals, but he adores people and loves to go on walks.

Update- 10/2023 Scooby is still here waiting month after month, year after year for someone to take a chance on him.

Do y’all know Scooby? He has lived at our shelter for most of his life. 🥲 We all love him and don’t understand why we can’t find him a home. When we first took in Scooby (well over 4 years ago) he was big, young and admittedly hard to contain. He could jump a 5 foot fence with ease just to chase a squirrel. He beat up other dogs and was hard to walk on a leash. But through it all, he loved people.

Fast forward 4 years- Now, he’s much more mellow. He is over 5 years old now, about 100lbs. He’s fatter and a little slower. He still can’t be trusted around all other animals, but there are some he actually likes. He isn’t the escape artist he used to be, but we will help you shore up your existing fence just in case. He loves to get out in the yard and play. And he still lives for belly rubs. If you are interested in meeting our Scooby, please call 706-487-4539. Blairsville GA

Castoff Pet Rescue alumni Murphy checked in to see if everyone is loving this fall weather. He loves going for a walk.

Stop by the Castoff thrift store and pick up a new long sleeve shirt or some jeans, then take your dog out for a walk too. ❤️

These 2 are in Young Harris. Please..if anyone can help let us know. The keys to the apartment where the owner who passed must be turned in today. These boys are so precious & look like they have several years left of their lives. Thank you!
