She is beautiful.
She is brilliant.
She is brave.

This is also the face of a dog who has now spent 514 days in an animal shelter. 514.
The look in her eyes in this photo tells the story of a dog who once had a home of her own and one who is longing for a place that she hasn't known for so long.

She's estimated to be 5 years old so that tells us that she was 3.5 when she was abandoned by her family and lost her safe place she called home.

Through every bark echoing in concrete walls and each passing day, she's held onto hope and joy. Despite the hardships, her spirit remains unbroken.

But, our baby girl Blanche is ready to bring everlasting love to a home that will cherish her like we do. She is so deserving of that 1 person who is willing to love her.

In the midst of countless goodbyes, she stands strong, a silent observer of companions finding homes. Through it all, she clings to hope, her eyes filled with anticipation that today might be the day her forever family walks in. Each wag of her tail echoes a tale of resilience, a testament to the enduring spirit that refuses to surrender to despair.

Just like some people prefer a little extra personal space, so does she, but her sweet soul is destined for a home where she can be the unrivaled love of your life. This special girl thrives on the tender moments shared in the absence of furry competition, creating a bond that's uniquely deep and unbreakable.

Although we are not exactly certain how she would co-exist with felines, and because we want to set her up for success in finding her forever family, we feel it may be a good idea to place her in a home where she is the only pet at this time.

Her lonely road has been so long. Can we be the ones to make her wait worthwhile? Your home could be the haven Blanche has been patiently waiting for. Adopt and be the chapter in her story where hope transforms into a lifetime of love.

Moral of the story: Keep your dogs fully vaccinated especially if they are around other dogs outside of your home.

Boarding / Training for 2024:

I am currently accepting boarding reservations for February 1 to August 5th. I only will be boarding up to 5 dogs at one time unless the new canine respiratory virus (CIRDC) becomes a problem in the area. (See the article below for information.)

In an effort to keep all dogs safe, I will ask that you restrict dog interactions outside of the home for a minimum of 2 weeks prior to boarding. While some of the infected dogs were exposed in places with large numbers of dogs (dog shows, day cares, groomers and boarding kennels), dogs who do not leave their yards have mysteriously contracted the virus.

All vaccinations must be remain current throughout your dog’s stay. This includes bordetella and canine influenza. While many of the dogs who have gotten sick were fully vaccinated, it is important to keep these updated so they do not get both viruses.

I will begin training again in January. I will be training at my location as well as in-home. Group classes are suspended until further notice.

We need help finding hunter a home. Te owner came in last night saying how much he hated this piuppy and that the dog RUINED his life because he chewed stuff up! It’s a lab!!! They chew. He’s about a year. We updated hi vaccines And he is a good dog. But he will still chew because he is a lab and that’s a common issue with the retriever breed. We did not have a space so I told him we would brake as soon as a space opens but he kept saying how much he hated him and he wasn’t going to take him back to his home. So out of concern what was going to happen to this poor dog I took him to animal ark and boarded him. This is a unique situation so if anyone is interested in giving this dog his forever home call us and we’ll
pick him up and bring him to the store for a meet and greet. This is not the dogs fault. This is due to an irresponsible pet owner and hopefully he never gets another pet. He definitely won’t get anything from us!! But the chewing part is going to to still happen. Retrievers generally chew till their 2. If anyone is interested call the store to make arrangements for us to go pick him up. Serious inquiries only de to this unique situation.

This is not in Ohio…yet. But viruses like this can spread like wildfire. Keep your dogs vaccinations updated and avoid unnecessary socialization/interaction with large groups of dogs.
