Has the number of dogs and cats increased a lot in the last few years? This chart published by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) shows a big jump with Covid in 2020, with the number increasing yearly.

The growth has strained shelters and rescues, veterinary hospitals, and other facilities, especially with the continuing shortage of veterinary and animal care staff.

The bottom line is that fewer resources are currently available to care for more animals. Be kind and patient with animal care workers this holiday and all year. We need them all.

Our desire to help our community led us to create both the TEAR Foundation and the Tear Cancer Fund. These nonprofit organizations provide some financial help for clients who qualify and are struggling to pay for their veterinary or pet cancer care.
