Starting the New Year off on a wonderful note, Kida is adopted!! 🎉 Thank you to everyone who shared our sweet girl to help find her new home. This family was fated to find her! They recently lost their female dog and were looking for a friend for their male dog. A perfect match for Kida, who just lost her brother and was looking for a friend to help ease the loss. We are so happy the right family came along and chose her! Happy Gotcha Day Kida!! ❤️

Christmas came early for some of our dogs who have been waiting a long time to find their forever homes!! We are so grateful that the perfect adopters came along and picked some of our overlooked dogs! This year they'll spend Christmas with their new families instead of in a kennel and we couldn't be happier! A huge THANK YOU to these adopters who welcomed these wonderful, deserving pups into their homes. This is what the Christmas spirit is all about! We have been the bestest pups and kitties all year long...well, most of the time anyway😜! We always finish our dinner, We help keep the shelter clean by picking up all the crumbs, we do our best to defend our home from the pesky squirrels and the birds knocking on our windows, and we keep our shelter friends entertained! We are devastated to announce that our sweet senior boy, Miloh, passed away today. His health took a drastic turn overnight and after rushing him to the emergency vet, we discovered he had a brain tumor that was causing severe medical issues. Unfortunately, there was nothing the vet could do for him. We are so sad that his story ended here. Miloh was an angel and loved everyone he met. He had an infectious smile that brightened up your whole day.💔

We now need your help finding a home quickly for his sister, Kida! PLEASE share to spread the word about her. In her 9 years, Kida has never lived without her brother Miloh. She doesn't know what's happened yet, but we're sure she will become depressed once she realizes her brother isn't coming back. Kida is very sweet, friendly, house-trained, leash-trained, playful, and loves to snuggle. She would do okay with older kids (teen+), no cats, and she is dog selective, so she would need an interaction first before going to a home with another dog. She is absolutely wonderful and we hope someone will come give her a true forever home to live out the rest of her days!

Meet Shimaru! Affectionately known as Shimi, Shim, Sham!😂 This cat is just the best, a true dog-cat. He is so sweet and affectionate! When you open his condo door, he jumps right out into your arms for hugs. He gives kisses and wants to snuggle all the time. He is 2 years old and came to us from a localhoarding situation. He is FIV+ and needs to be the only cat in his home or go to a home with other FIV+ cats. He is such a wonderful boy and deserves a family that will shower him with the love he deserves!

Meet Nito and Stitch! These two came in with their mom Adia after a good samaritan found them dumped in a box on the side of the road. They needed some time to warm up, but are now very friendly! They're only 8 months old and nice, mellow kittens. They have been waiting too long to find their furever home and will make a great addition to any family! They do not have to be adopted together, but can go together if you're looking to add two furry friends to your home!

Meet Moxie! This little cutie is a goofy girl! She is a bulldog/pit mix with a lot of personality. She loves people and wants to be with her person all the time. She is higher energy, so she's looking for an active family. She enjoys walks, play time, and snuggle sessions! She is medium sized at 45 pounds and only 5 years old. She doesn't like other dogs, so she needs a home without other animals. Moxie is full of life and will brighten up any lucky adopter's life!

Meet Ember! She was returned to us after 5 years because she was no longer getting along with the other dog in her home. She is a sweet girl and loves being around people. She is medium size and a medium energy level. She has good leash manners, but loud noises tend to scare her on walks. She lived with kids in her previous home, but due to her fear of loud noises we think she'd do best in a home with older children. Due to her history, we are looking to place her in home without other animals, so she will succeed. Ember is a wonderful dog and we want to see her back in home asap!

Introducing Gunner!! This boy is just the sweetest puppy you'll ever meet! He came to us because his owner wasn't able to afford maintaining his grooming needs. Check out his before pics! Thanks to Creative Clips Pet Salon in Suffield, our boy is looking spiffy and feeling much better! He is only 8 months old, a medium size poodle mix, and he is missing being with a family. He loves everyone he meets and we think he would be happiest in a furever home with kids or other pets who he can play with all day long! He is house trained, walks well on leash, and aside from some typical puppy energy he has excellent manners. Today is ! A day to give back to those in need in your community and worldwide. In honor of Guving Tuesday, we ask for your help in continuing our efforts to save homeless, abandoned, and neglected animals in Connecticut. Like most shelters in the state, we have taken in a record number of surrenders this year. Our food/supply costs have doubled and our medical costs have skyrocketed. We couldn’t do what we do, without the kindness of our generous supporters! Your help throughout the year has gone towards animals like the ones in this photo:
Montana, a sweet puppy who was tied up under bridge and left to starve to death in the middle of a heat wave. Holly and her sister Sage, whose elderly owner was no longer able to care for them and were at risk of becoming dumped outside at age 13. Princess and Zelda, two sweet, young dogs who were rescued by Simon from euthanasia at the local animal control facilities where they were being held. Caribe, who was living in a car with her siblings at just 8 weeks old during the hot summer. Rory, one of only two kittens in her litter that survived living on the streets before coming to Simon. Finally, Harold, a sweet elderly dog who’s owner lost her home and spent months living with him in her car, driving to animal shelters until she found one that could take him.
There are so many more animals like them in our care or still in need in our community.

Meet our new arrival, Zelda! This beautiful girl is a goofy delight! She came to us from a local animal control where she was quickly becoming kennel stressed. She is only 2 years old, super friendly and loves everyone she meets. She has great leash manners, aside from when she flops over to demand belly rubs! She could live in a home with other dogs with proper introduction, but no cats. In typical husky fashion, she likes to try her luck at escaping a yard. Volunteers needed!📣 We are looking for help in multiple areas of our shelter. We need Cat Volunteers to assist with the cleaning/care of our kitties on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday! Typically between 11am-1pm, but timing is flexible. We also need Dog Walking volunteers on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12pm-2pm. These volunteer positions are every week and require a commitment to come each week on the day of your choice. It's a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of homeless pets in need. Our cats and dogs truly love our volunteers and the time they spend together!

We also need help with Office Work and Event Planning! Timing for these positions is flexible, contact us for more info if you're interested!
