Kids called up the beef today. Still have a half available going in Feb 20.

Need the freezer stocked? I had a customer back out and have half a beef going in on Feb 20. $2.80/lb hanging weight. Pasture raised, never treated with antibiotics.

Hmm, pasture is too wet for truck, gator is still in pieces how to move this tub? Attempt 1, forgot the other strap, failed. Did make it through the gate. Attempt 2, success. No backs were injured or hernias created.

With the ground being soft this morning I was afraid of cutting ruts on the hills so I tried something different on the flat ground. I put the tractor in low one and walked alongside tearing the hay off the bales. Worked pretty slick. I'm sure it would not be osha approved.

Tonight's dinner "Perfect Rump Roast" with brown sugar glazed potatoes. Ridgetop Rump roast was a 2 pounder, slightly over cooked for an hour and twenty. Both were delicious.

Tonight's dinner, garlic parmesan steak bites.
1 package Ridgetop Sirloin steak seared in cast iron skillet. Unknown amount of minced garlic caramelized in half stick of butter after steak removed. Poured over steak. About 15 minutes or so.

Note I'm a better cook than a food photographer but this was last nights meal. 1 lb of Ridgetop Farms hamburger, a leftover package of noodles, some canned veggies, brown gravy, and some Boikermaker hot sauce. It was a good meal for the weather.

The crew had a little fun with the steers tonight. They played cowboys and Indians. Thankfully when charged the Indians fled.

It was cold today but as long as they have water, feed, and shelter from the wind this stock does fine. The bald patches are from rubbing their necks on the hay ring. For now with the ground froze these heifers are the only ones using a hay feeder. They don't go through the hay fast enough. Ideally when feeding hay on the ground cattle should only get enough for a day.

Cooked up some patties last night to see what they cooked like. Keep in mind I'm not a food photographer. Anyway on the left is before, on the right is after. Note they did not shrivel up to nothing, they are not dripping in grease, and they were not dry. Just good. I've patties, 4 to a one pound pack for $6 or unpattied one pound packs for $5
