Joe was alerted of an emaciated stray dog in Odell, il so he went out to catch it. Fortunately, the person who had reported the dog was also feeding it 2x a day. Joe was able to catch him within an hour.

We now have the dog, we’re calling Bullseye or Ham, at Prairie Oak Veterinary Center. They’re going to keep him for the a few days to run tests, get him fed, and up to date on vaccinations.

If you would like to donate to his veterinary care then please call the vet clinic directly at 309-454-8606! His care is under the account name Joe Gienow. Please share! Prairie Oak Vet

RINGO IS SAFE. ❤️🐾

Will County Humane Society reached out to us for help after one of their pups, Ringo, slipped away. We arrived that first evening knowing time was critical. Ringo had been struck by a car shortly after escaping. After searching the surrounding area, our Pilot picked up a thermal signature—and there he was. Ringo had curled himself tightly near the train tracks, scared, hurt, and trying his best to disappear from the world.

A low-pressure recovery plan was quickly formed. Another shelter dog, chosen specifically for temperament and familiarity with Ringo, was brought in to gently help ease his panic. But just as everyone was being moved into place, a Northbound train roared past. The noise sent Ringo into a terrified scramble. In the seconds it took to swap a drone battery, he vanished into the darkness.

We weren’t giving up.

Just before first light the very next morning, our drone was back in the air racing the rising sun. That’s when we spotted him—alone in the middle of a cornfield across the road. It was then confirmed that Ringo had been struck by a vehicle shortly after escaping. He had been seen alive afterward, but no one knew the extent of his injuries. Every minute mattered. He needed recovery, safety, warmth, and medical attention—fast.

From that point on, our Drone Pilot refused to leave Ringo.

We monitored him day and night with thermal and standard cameras, studying every movement. We tried low-pressure approaches. We tried high-pressure approaches. We worked side by side with our “Northern Rescue Group,” as we affectionately call them, forming plan after plan, adjusting to every change in Ringo’s behavior. Equipment was placed with precision. Food was set carefully. Every detail was aimed at giving this boy the best possible chance to walk himself into safety.

And this morning… he did.

Ringo finally took those first brave steps into the live trap. Within seconds, the door shut behind him, ending the long, cold nights he had endured and opening the door to the healing and comfort he so desperately needed.

This rescue was powered by heart—by the dedication of Will County Humane Society, the Northern Rescue Group, the volunteers, the community, the farmers, the neighbors, and the countless people who cared enough to show up. It was our privilege to stand beside all of you. You all are amazing, selfless people with hearts of gold.

Thank you for trusting us.
Thank you for working tirelessly for Ringo.
And thank you for reminding us why we do what we do.

Welcome back to safety, Ringo. Your hardest days are now behind you. 💚🐾

P.S. Thank you for the treats and wonderful note Alicia! Made my night a little easier. And thank you WCHS for the supplies and donuts

Eye in the Sky Thermal Drone Pet Rescue – Current Operations Update

We have a lot of active cases right now, and our entire team is spread out doing the very best we can with the resources we have. ❤️‍🩹

We currently have teams in Winona, working tirelessly to humanely trap a pot-bellied pig who has been on the run for weeks and now has an arrow lodged in his back ham. His situation is urgent, and we are doing everything in our power—alongside caring neighbors and dedicated partners—to get him the help he desperately needs.

At the same time, we have another team up in Shorewood, Illinois, assisting with Ringo, who needs specialized support and a coordinated recovery effort. We are working with the Northern Rescue Group and the wonderful people of the Will County Humane Society.

Even when we’re spread thin, our mission never changes: bring them home safely.
Thank you to everyone who supports us, share our posts, offer encouragement, and believe in the work we do. You help make all of this possible. 💙🐾

The Rescue of the Road Walker

The call came in the form of a social media tag: a stray dog had been seen roaming our area for days, looking tired and lost. Knowing the risks, Joe immediately made the first trip out yesterday. Unfortunately, a priority rescue pulled him away before he could locate the wary traveler.

But the dog remained on his mind. Today, Joe went back out, and this time, there was no search required—the dog was there, right away.

The situation was immediately concerning. Though startled by the heavy traffic rushing past, the dog moved with a strange confidence, walking dangerously right down the middle of the road. Joe quickly and quietly set up his humane traps. This part of the process requires immense patience, and after two intense hours, the little road-walker finally felt comfortable enough to venture into one of the secured traps.

With the dog safe, Philip arrived to help transfer him to a secure, warm location. We released him into the calm of a private garage, hoping a change of environment would make him approachable.

He's safe, but he is certainly exhausted and scared. For now, he keeps his distance, but we’ve noticed that when he thinks we aren't looking, he ventures closer for a quick, cautious sniff.

The next critical step is to win his trust so we can safely check his collar and scan for a microchip to find his family. Until then, he's warm, fed, and completely secure.

Thank you all for the shares and the concern! We'll keep you updated on his journey home

🐾 Odin’s Journey Home

We were contacted by Christina who had just endured one of the most devastating experiences imaginable — a house fire that took nearly everything she had. In the aftermath of that trauma, she entrusted her beloved Odin to her daughter’s home for safekeeping while she tried to get back on her feet. But Odin, loyal to his core, didn’t understand. All he knew was that he needed to be with his mom. So he set out on his own to find her.

Odin was now in a strange town, unfamiliar and disoriented. When Christina realized he was missing, panic set in — the kind that only someone who’s loved and lost a pet can truly understand. She reached out to Eye in the Sky Thermal Drone Pet Rescue, and we immediately mobilized to help.

As darkness fell, we launched our drone and began scanning the area, searching for any sign of Odin’s heat signature against the cold November night. After some time, we finally spotted him — lying alone in an open field, frightened and exhausted. His posture told us everything: Odin was in full panic mode.

We carefully guided Christina to position herself upwind of Odin, hoping he would catch her scent and find the courage to come closer. Despite the freezing temperatures and her own emotional exhaustion from the fire and the days of heartache, Christine sat quietly in that bean field — waiting, praying, and hoping her boy would find his way back to her.

At a critical moment, our drone’s battery needed a swap. We quickly returned to the vehicle, changed batteries, and hurried to get back in the air. But as we repositioned over the field, we realized Odin had vanished. Christina told us that just after we pulled the drone back, a strong gust of wind slammed nearby barn doors — the noise likely startled Odin and sent him running once again.

We decided that it would be best to pull back for the night, giving Odin space and quiet to settle. We left behind scent items at that location hoping to hold him to that area. Christina’s heartbreak was palpable, but her determination never wavered.

The next morning, as the sun rose, the message every rescuer hopes for came through — Odin was home. At 2:00 a.m. Odin found his way back to Christina’s daughters house, broke in through the fence, found the doggie door and crawled up in bed with his family. Wow!!

Christina’s patience, love, and unbreakable bond with her boy guided him back to safety. Odin’s journey reminds us that even through chaos and fear, the connection between a pet and their family can light the way home.

Welcome home, Odin. We love you buddy ❤️

It’s always amazing to see recovery specialists who’ve never even met before come together with one shared goal — bringing a lost pet home.

When little Teddy, a 4-pound Yorkie mix, went missing, the community rallied, and help poured in from every direction. As part of the recovery effort, two powerhouse rescuers — Charlene Walsh from WILD Canine Rescue in Springfield and Karry Rich from Eye in the Sky Thermal Drone Pet Rescue — teamed up for the first time in what can only be described as an unforgettable rescue mission!

Armed with a four-wheeler, a fishing net, and pure determination, these two zipped out across an open cornfield after our drone Kane picked up a tiny thermal signature. Sure enough — it was Teddy, curled up, scared, and cold. What followed was a perfect display of coordination, quick thinking, and heart.

Charlene drove. Karry positioned. And together, they safely scooped Teddy up — using that trusty fishing net — and ended his long night alone. 💕

This moment was proof that when passionate rescuers unite, amazing things happen. Two people from different organizations, one mission, one happy ending.

Welcome home, Teddy — and hats off to Charlene and Karry, the unstoppable recovery duo!
