UPDATE: Our trap was returned to the shelter! It was picked up by a concerned neighbor.
We need your help! Keep your eyes out for a trap similar to this with GCHS and 812-847-4780 written on top!
A volunteer has been working to trap cats in their neighborhood to get them fixed and vacinated. They have trapped 7 over the last week. 3 were feral and were returned to their outside homes where they have access to food, water and shelter. The other 4 had been living under the volunteers shed and were scared but once trapped, were friendly enough to go through our adoption process!
Sometime early this morning, one of our traps walked away unfortunately. It was located in the SW part of Linton, not far from city hall. We hope that it was taken by a well meaning neighbor who thought the cats were being trapped to dump or kill! If so, we would love to talk to you about TNR and how it helps reduce the cat overpopulation issues while also keeping neighborhood cats in place where they can get access to food, water and care as needed.
If you happen to have our trap or see it, please return it back to us at the cheap ones currently cost $50/each to buy new! You can bring it to the shelter or just sit it back where you found it!
We are going to start posting more about TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and try to increase our efforts to get cats fixed to prevent unwanted litters! With Pets Alive operating in Greene County now, we can get more cats fixed than we have been able to in the past!
If you would like to know more about TNR, have outside cats that you are caring for that need fixed or you think you may enjoy helping us trap and transport cats, we would love to talk to you! We really will need volunteers to help us make a difference!
