The Nest: Dog Rescue and Rehabilitation The Nest is an all volunteer private 501c3 rescue organization located in Bloomington, IN. Mail can be sent to PO Box 2054, Bloomington, IN 47401.

The Nest focuses on dogs that shelters don't put up for adoption due to their age, health and or minor behavior issues. We do not have a shelter/facility. All our animals are in foster homes. Please visit our web site for more info and details on the adoption process.

Please share: Blue Boy is still in need of a forever home. His person had to move to nursing home. Blue Boy is 10 yrs old, male (neutered), very healthy, in excellent shape, current on veterinary care (exams, vaccinations), both very sweet and independent. He is currently being fed and looked after by a neighbor but really really really he needs a new home very soon. 💜🎅🙏 Please spread the word and PM or email us if you are interested in this gorgeous cat or if you like to find out more.Thank you!

Update on the 5 pups: Thanks to networking with fellow rescuers and several individuals including our veterinarian, all 5 pups are safe and in good places. We were inundated with comments and messages and we did our best to keep up. Thank you all for reaching out.

UPDATE on Yorkiepoos: none of them have new homes as of now. However several parties have expressed interest in the dogs except for the old ones. Please private message us if you would like to meet the dogs so we can put you in touch with their current caretakers.
The dogs are not with us, we are just trying to help by mediating. We don't have much information but we can connect you if you private message us. We won't give out contact in the comments. Thank you!

The other day we met this sweet and super affectionate Beagle girl named Spot. She is no longer wanted by her owner because Spot is older and needed veterinary attention. Thankfully Dr. Katy Harris has provided much needed veterinary care and Spot can now be adopted by someone who can give this girl a loving home. Pleas let us know or call Heal Pet Care in Bloomfield directly if you could open your heart and home to Spot.

We know there are soooo many kitties out there that need homes. We were hoping we could get the three musketeers into a forever home but there has been no interest in either Merlin (black), Fritz (brown tabby) or Clementine (black and white).
Unfortunately the current foster mom who kindly took them in to get them well socialized - mission accomplished - is not able to keep them any longer. They have to leave this Saturday by noon. At this point we have nowhere for them to go. Please spread the word and let's hope that they will pull at someone's heartstrings.
They all come fixed, vaccinated (including Rabies) and microchipped chipped - all for $55. PLEEAASE!!!

Kittens 11-08-24

Spotlight on 14 year old Nest sanctuary pup Levi. 💜 Levi can't do steps anymore. Ongoing ACL issues (repaired 5 years ago) and arthritis make uneven ground painful to walk on Yes, the ramp was built by a volunteer in a bit of a hurry last winter. We need to correct it because it is just too steep for Levi. Walking down in the yard should not be this uncomfortable or painful at his old age. Anti slip pads don't work either. Please help Levi if you can. We have to raise about $500 to have the ramp modified so Levi can get to his yard without anticipating discomfort or pain.

Kittens anyone?? The tabby is the most scared one. He hisses and spits when you try to handle him. The other two have made much progress since they arrived. Please let us know if you are interested in having them, or one, or two ... The black and white one is female, the two others male.

Spotlight on Sanctuary nestling Maybelle. She has been in our care for 9 years (she is now 14!) and we guarantee she is very happy. When we took her in she could hardly walk, she was diagnosed with brain cancer and given a 4 months life expectancy. She is a miracle pup. Her favorite thing is hiking! Enjoy the video.

Look at these two! Lucy and Theo having fun before breakfast! :) We learned over the weekend that they are fine with kids, Theo (the white/tan one) followed them everywhere. So gentle children welcome! You can find out more details in their description on Adopt-A-Pet (under Lucy).

Lively Little Louis

Little Louis presented himself asa pile of misery when we first met him. As many times before, we were getting ready to take in another golden oldie who seems to just want to crash on a cozy couch for the remainder of his days. NOT THIS GUY! Louis is frisky and lively now that he is healthy! It took a few weeks to restore his body and in his foster home he just blossomed into a spunky puppy! We hope we can find hm a forever home soon as the original "forever foster" has not worked out due to Louis being actually too lively. Please spread the word about this cutie. He is a lot of fun!

Fritz is an 11 week old kitten that was rescued by a Nest volunteer. He was pulled out of a thornbush where part of his ear was damaged (but don’t worry! That is healed.) He is an active kitten who loves the company of humans, dogs, and other cats. Who would like to add this active little boy to their family?
