The 2024 American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) Annual Conference was hosted in Minneapolis this year. Pet Crossing’s wonderful veterinarians, technicians, and assistants were able to attend and take part in seminars and workshops to help further their education while celebrating the world of feline medicine!

Dr. Solgat’s own Madame Marie Purrie was able to clear her schedule to attend the conference as well!

Zazu is in need of a fur-ever home! 🐱🏠❤️

"Zazu is a 7 year old Male Neutered Orange Tabby. He is named after the character “Zazu” from The Lion King.

Zazu is wonderful, loving, and energetic. Zazu can be quiet at first but once he comes out of his shell-he loves to cuddle, play with feathered toys, and bird watching. He is adept at hunting flies. He loves attention and will coo at you whenever you are around.

His current owner’s career has changed and the traveling is not fit for him. Zazu does not do well with other cats or dogs. He gets very jealous if he is not center of attention. Zazu would do best in a home with someone that can give him all of their affection and attention. He is up to date on Rabies and FVRCP (Feline Distemper combo) and is in fantastic health!

He is looking for his forever home with a quieter lifestyle. Please contact us at 952-884-8248 and ask to speak with Madison if interested or have further questions. There is no adoption fee.

If interested and the lifestyle is right there is a shopping spree included with adoption! We would love to set his future owner up with litter, food, small cat tree, toys, litter box and any other small essentials needed."

Are you or someone you know interested? Let us know! ❤️

🐶CDC Simplifies Canine Import Rules from Dog Rabies-free and Low-risk Countries🚗🛩

Last week, the CDC announced important changes to its new dog importation rules taking effect August 1. These requirements have been updated since we published information about the new rules in our July/August newsletter, and the article that appears on page 25 is now out of date.

The changes are specific to dogs coming in from dog rabies-free and low-risk dog rabies countries, such as Canada. Veterinarians and pet owners in the state of Minnesota – particularly those with dogs traveling between the U.S. and Canada - will be relieved to know that the recently announced changes greatly simplify the process.

For dogs that have only been in dog rabies-free or low-risk countries – which include any countries not on the high risk list - for the six months prior to U.S. entry, the CDC Dog Import Form is the only form needed. It is free, should be filled out by the person bringing the dog into the U.S., can be filled out prior to or on the day of entry, and is valid for six months and multiple entries. One form per dog is required, and the form receipt must be presented when entering the U.S. Additionally, dogs must be at least six months old, be healthy upon arrival, and have a microchip that is detectable by universal scanner. Complete details can be found here.

For dogs entering the U.S. from high risk countries for dog rabies, listed here, the new rules remain the same as previously announced. Different rules apply depending on whether the dog has been vaccinated in the United States or a foreign country, and there are additional specifications and requirements including documentation to be completed by veterinarians.

You can read details here:

Independence Day 🇺🇸 is next week! As a reminder, Pet Crossing will be CLOSED on the 4th of July. Make sure to request those refills for any diets or medications you're running low on!

The 4th of July can be hard for pets. 🎆 Loud noises and flashing lights are distressing to animals which can cause stress, anxiety, and can cause pets to bolt or run away.

Here are some tips to help your furry friends stay safe & comfortable during firework displays and celebrations this 4th of July!

🔸Establish a safe, comfortable, & secure area for your pet indoors

🔸Take dogs on walks during day light & keep all furry friends indoors when fireworks are about to begin

🔸Close and cover windows to keep out flashing lights

🔸Turn on calming music to mask loud noises

🔸Do not punish fearful or scared behavior

🔸Make sure your pet is microchipped & has current identification tags on

🔸Take a chill pill! Some pets need a little more help to be comfortable.
