With Halloween coming up this week, it's a good time to remember to take steps now to prevent potential harm to your beloved pet(s).

Keep candy and wrappers out of reach. In addition to being simply unhealthy for your pet, candy containing chocolate, xylitol, and raisins can be potentially deadly. Keep this number handy—ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center: 1-888-426-4435.

Keep pets away from candle-lit pumpkins, decorations, glow sticks, and costume parts that could be ingested and cause intestinal blockage.

Keep pets away from the door during trick or treat hours, and make sure they have identification on them in case of escape during the festivities (microchip, collar, and ID tag).

Think your furry friend has what it takes to be an actor? Constellation Stage & Screen will be holding Dog Auditions for the role of Toto in this year’s family holiday musical, The Wizard of Oz!

The director is interested in finding 2 dogs to split performances during the December run at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Dogs do not need to look exactly like the Cairn Terrier from the iconic film, but should be small, friendly, and well trained. Dogs that take verbal commands or hand signals are ideal candidates.

We urgently need bedding for our animals as we have no way to operate our laundry machines without power.
