JUNE WRAP UP! βœŒοΈπŸŒžπŸˆβ€β¬›

June was a challenging month for us as our regular clinic was closed to us for three weeks. Even without our 'regular' appointments, we STILL managed to complete 38 TNRS thanks to appointments through The Pet Care Clinic and Bloomsburg Veterinary Hospital, Inc .🀩 We welcomed 23 cats and kittens (mostly kittens!) into foster and adopted out 17 of our cats!

Besides the cost 38 TNRs we completed this month ($1,222), we had almost $5K in additional medical bills.

This included:
🏩 Surgeries for Chester, who needed his paws surgically debrided and repaired and Nefertiti, who needed an eye removed as well as spay.
🌑An emergency appointment Abbie, who had a high fever and lethargy and was sent home with meds after fluids and injectable antibiotics.
🩺 Well-visits for routine testing or vaccines or follow up visits for cats that were struggling with health issues, like Leo and Lorna who needed updated testing and rabies or Sawyer, who came down with a nasty URI and needed antibiotics.
🩻 Emergency visits for a handful of community cats that were already TNRed but needed treatment for injuries or illness.

We spent $1,103 on supplies for the cats in our care. This included food, litter, vaccines, medical supplies and supplements for our fosters as well as supplies to care for our TNRS before and after their surgeries.

Finally, we spent $4,400 on merchandise, which was our recent apparel order. HOWEVER, between the pre-orders we collected and recent sales, we have already made back that investment and are now collecting a profit on the remaining inventory. (THANK YOU to everyone who ordered. We still have items left, check out our 'apparel' album for available merchandise!)

But the most EXCITING update for this month is our most recent TNR milestone. Since February 2024, we have completed 158 TNRS in Columbia, Montour and Northumberland counties. πŸ₯Ή Our goal for 2024 was 200 TNRS but now, we're thinking 300 sounds nice.

We're excited to be back in our regular routine for July! THANK YOU for all your support. We never imagined we would have the support we do and be able to accomplish what we have when we started in March. It's because of our amazing community that we have been SO successful. 🫢 THANK YOU!

UPDATE - Friends & Ferals is going to be taking this kitty for us and will be adopting her out at a later date.

Does anyone recognize this cat? She was left in a carrier outside our hospital a couple of hours ago. Although she is very scared, we were able to at least check her for a microchip, which she does not have. We're assuming she was dropped off, but want to make sure before rehoming her. 570-784-6440.

Last week we had the pleasure of having Alison Gottlieb, BS, CVT, VTS (ECC) host animal CPR training for our staff! This was a great learning experience for our newer team members and a great refresher for the rest of our team!

According to AAHA: "Alison graduated from Towson State University with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Behavior. She earned certification in emergency and critical care in 2000. Alison has served on the board of AVECCT as a member at large and on the application committee. Alison is the Co-founder/owner of Four Paws Consulting LLC an education based veterinary consultant. Over the years Alison has published many articles, frequently on pain; as well as authored a chapter on pain in the ICU. Alison has lectured extensively with Australia and New Zealand being amongst her favorites.

Currently Ali is the Education Coordinator at Hickory Veterinary Hospital in Plymouth Meeting PA. Her favorite topics/areas are anything feline, osteoarthritis, analgesia and low stress handling. In the clinic you can usually find giving the patients cat nip and treats. She spends most of her free time outside with her pit bull and her cats."

Two of our CVTs, Maddy and Kasey, recently visited North Dakota for a RAVS (Rural Area Veterinary Services) trip. RAVS is a teaching clinic that offers free services on some of the reservations that don’t have affordable vet care. They provided care for a total of 498 pets over the span of 5 days, with many of them being spayed/neutered as well.

Here is what Maddy had to say about their time spent with RAVS:

"I am so thankful to have been able to be a part of this trip because it was a learning experience for me as well. Some of my greatest times in this field so far have been on these trips and the knowledge gained is something I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. I will forever recommend to anyone working in vet med to take at least one RAVS trip at some point in their career. Nothing ignites your passion and fills your heart better than thisπŸ’œπŸΎ"

We admire all of their hard work during this trip!

Happy June 1st! Here is our May Roundup. πŸˆβ€β¬›πŸŒž

βœ‚οΈ 45 TNRS Completed
πŸ‘―β€β™‚οΈ 39 Intakes to foster (28 of the 39 are kittens under 8 weeks! 😱)
πŸ₯° 6 Adoptions! (Pam, Boots, Tig, Lilac, Juno & Harriet)
πŸ’ͺ 431 Volunteer Hours!

This month also had A LOT of emergency and sick visits for our friends. We do not accept owner surrenders and instead, our intakes come from the colonies and areas we are actively working. So ALL our adoptable cats and kittens come to us as community cats, lifelong outdoor cats or abandoned pets. That means they usually need a little bit more than basic vetting! Thankfully, we have the amazing team at Bloomsburg Veterinary Hospital, Inc to support us and our cats! πŸ–€

We've also included a breakdown of our monthly expenses. Our organization is funded by our community and it's YOUR donations that allow us to continue our lifesaving work. THANK YOU!

June is going to be a slower month as the clinic is closed for three weeks, one of our team is due with her second baby and we're at capacity for intakes. But we'll be busy nonetheles!
