Most of you are aware that my husband has been having issues with his shoulder. After further MRIs his care team at UCSF has discovered damage to his neck as well.

He has been my rock & caretaker during my time of need & its only right that I be his during this time. I will be reducing my work hours & leaving as soon as the last dog is finished for the day to help out at home.

I am working on accessing the schedule remotely. I still can’t receive replies from the automated reminder system. I am also hearing from clients that with recent cell phone updates the automatic text reminders are being sent to spam folders. Please text my office at 707-826-0903 to schedule or with questions & I will respond in between clients. Phone calls will be returned at the end of the business day.

I may have to reschedule some grooming appointments to attend his Doctor appointments in the Bay Area. At this time he has not had surgery & is still in the diagnostic & pain management phase.

I will definitely keep everyone informed & may need to reschedule your dogs grooming appointments as necessary. Thank you so much for your understanding & flexibility.

We will be temporarily closed from Wednesday, October 16th through Friday, October 18th, due to my husband's scheduled surgical consultation in the Bay Area. Ms. Bubbles is modeling our new Jelly Pet belly band for safety in the bathtub & the grooming table. It adjustable for tiny dogs to very large breeds. Quite often cients ask if I have need of their gently used crates. If you're looking for a place to donate her you this is a worthy cause!

We never thought this day would come!
We are out of large black crates!

For years we have had a stockpile. In recent years we have used these crates for foster families, to socialize feral kittens and transport groups of cats.

We have a new group of kittens in our program and they need some TLC. We are out of large black crates if anyone has one laying around collecting dust we would love to take it off your hands and put it to good use.

What are your thoughts on private grooming sessions, where I attend to a single dog or family of dogs at a time in my shop, potentially at a slightly higher price, to create a less stressful environment for my more nervous or elderly clients?

We appreciate your gratitude, Terry, Tim Mason, and Toby. The flowers are stunning! It marks the end of an era. We have missed Tim since his passing and are comforted knowing he and Toby are reunited. Thank you for entrusting us with the care of your family's cherished dogs across generations. Rest in peace, Mr. Mason and Toby.

With the 4th of July right around the corner and almost a week away. The noise and unpredictability of fireworks lead many dogs to perceive them as a threat. This triggers their fight-or-flight response. Your dog may bark at the noises or try to run away and hide. They may also show other signs of anxiety too, like restlessness, panting, pacing or whining. We ask that if your furry family member needs sedation and they have a current exam with us please call in advance and allow 24-48 hours to fill your sedation prescriptions. Don't wait until its to late!

If anyone is wondering where we have been the last few days, we lost our lab, Kiera on Friday (6/21) morning. She was an amazing, athletic, kind, big girl, who was my husbands co-pilot & "mother" to our Corgi pack for 15 years.
I will reschedule last fridays appointments as soon as I can. Unfortunately our little Corgi Bubbles has a vet appointment for a mystery wound on her hip Monday afternoon & I will have to leave after finishing the morning appointment.

''Many of you surely remember Carole Ann Morgal, the Program Director of KWPT - The Point. She was an avid animal lover and fantastic DJ. She was also the brains and muscle of the “Food for Fido” pet food drive. Sadly, we lost our dear sweet Carole Ann in 2021 to cancer. To honor her vibrant spirit, we're bringing her pet food drive back and making it bigger! We have invited local pet shelters to bring some adoptable furbabies that need a new loving family. Let's find some homes for some lovable critters 🙂
Join us on June 29th from 12pm-4pm at Blue Lake Casino Hotel for a pet adoption & fundraiser event. We'll be outside next to the Sapphire Palace. All proceeds from the gate and a 50/50 raffle will be split among 3 totally awesome local animal rescues: Redwood Pals Rescue, Companion Animal Foundation, and Karuna Rescue.
The entry fee is a suggested donation of $10 (kids under 12 are free) OR a pet food donation. Each entry comes with one raffle ticket to win a cool basket of rad stuff like a one-night stay at the Inn of the Lost Coast, a gift certificate to the Hatchet House Arcata and more. The more you donate, the more raffle tickets you receive!! That means more chances to win! CASH donations only. No checks or cards. Sorry!
What else are we doing, you may ask? Lots of fun stuff!! A total of six animal shelters & rescues will be joining us along with some lovable and adoptable pets looking for a forever family. Which is the main event. However, since we are asking you to drive all the way to Blue Lake, we figured we’d add some other things to do. Such as food trucks! And a dunk tank! Even a pet costume contest! Vendors will be slinging their wares. The Bloodmobile is making the trek. AND…. There will be a piggy kissing booth!!! A Banjo Makes 3 will give us the soundtrack for the day and all four of our radio stations will be broadcasting live! Did we mention beer? Blue Lake Casino will set up a beer garden to quench that summertime thirst.
The pet costume contest is worth mentioning again. The winning pet’s human gets a one-night stay at Ocean View Hot Tubs in Shelter Cove. That’s swanky! And of course, glory. You win glory and the satisfaction of knowing your pet was the best dressed. Second and third place win stuff too!
Come out to sunny Blue Lake on Saturday, June 29th and let’s honor Carole Ann in the best way we know how: The 1st Annual Carole’s Critters.
