For those interested in nose work, I'll share our practice videos here as Keaton and I continue training for an upcoming K9 Nose Work NW2 trial. Whether you do nose work at home or are training for a competition it's great fun and fabulous enrichment for you dog. Sometimes, the search goes as I planned, and he finds the hide quickly, but sometimes, that's different. I'll share those videos, too. In these two searches, he's rocking it! In the first search, he quickly finds the inaccessible hide I placed in the wooden cabinet (left side of the screen). I put the hide in the cabinet and let it age for about an hour; then we started the search. We're in Brad's Barn Angel's workshop, so there are a lot of materials and equipment in this space. In the first search, you see Keaton catching the odor, then working right, left, and back to the right. Then, he zeros in on the cabinet where I placed the birch odor. In the second search, he comes in and goes to the right (just left of where the hide is behind the checkerboard), then left, back to the right (near the door), then gets as close as he can to the odor which is about four inches below the top of the checkerboard.
