Mares aren’t always well liked and for the same reasons strong women aren’t.

Opinionated? Those opinions are not without good cause and maybe you can't figure them out or maybe you just don’t like her opinion of you. Change it and she will always be on your side.

Stubborn? She just won’t let you bulldoze her. Treat her with respect and her resilience will be an asset to you.

Difficult? You just can’t handle her. You don’t have what it takes.

Stick with geldings then, and leave the mare for someone who understands her and appreciates the same qualities society has subtlety taught you not to like.

Here’s to mares, to strong women, and to those who CAN and DO appreciate them!

Work day June 4th at Cottonwood patch , bring gloves and proper work clothing. If bringing a horse to work on trails be there and in the saddle by 10am. Everyone not riding will be working in campground or helping cook. Food will be provided.

So who likes to trail ride in North Georgia? These trails don't take care of themselves; the volunteers do it! Back Country Horsemen is your local organization that keeps the horses on the trails....and this organization needs your help. There is a job for everyone, it's not all physical work on trails....there's plenty of light weight work!

Ok folks, it's coming down to the end of the year. We need to set a December meeting for the membership. We need elections, we need members and we need help. The same 8 people cannot keep doing this. If you want to keep trails to ride and equine campgrounds then please contact us to join and volunteer.
