She is a 3 year old female and weighs about 60lbs. Nala’s mom was a Catahoula and the father was a Black Mouth Cur mix. She is very loving, good in the car, can be a couch potato because she loves being with her people and loves attention. She is a strong girl who enjoys running and playing and is learning fetch. We like to share our monthly stats with you for a couple of reasons. We want you to know what your county animal control is doing. Full transparency. We also want you to understand why there are times we cannot accept every animal a community member ask us to take. June was a slow month for outcomes, and a good example of the issues the entire country is facing in regards to animal welfare. We took in 53 animals, but we only got 34 out. This is every shelter and rescue in the country. Adoptions are slow and intakes are high and we have lists of animals to bring in as soon as we get one out. There are ways you can help!
If you find a dog, check with your neighbors or people who live in the surrounding area. Take the dog to a local vet or shelter to be scanned for a chip. Post the dog on social media. There are a lot of lost and found groups on facebook. If you can, fostering the dog until placement can be found is a huge help and much better for the dog.

And please spay/neuter your pet! There are low cost options in the area. If you need information on those options give us a call. 706-632-3845

This sweet boy is Randy. I’m sure you remember the post about him being hit by a car one night last week. One of our officers picked him up and took him to the vet. He is going to make a full recovery and only had some soft tissue damage. We got a call from the veterinary office that his bill had been paid in full!!! This community is absolutely amazing!! Thank you so much for helping us help this beautiful dog. Handsome Randy has not been reclaimed so he is available for rescue or adoption! And don’t forget we are participating in the Empty the Shelters adoption event so adoption fees are $50!!

Humane Society of Blue Ridge is excited to announce we are having Dog Adoption Week! This Wednesday, June 26th through Sunday, June 30th, all dog adoption fees will be lowered. Puppies 6 months and under are $150, dogs 7 months - 7 years are $50 and senior dogs 8 years and older are $25. We are excited for you to meet your new best friend!

Bingo is looking for her fur-ever home. She is a mixed breed about 2 months old and weigh about 5 lbs. Bingo has a lot of energy, loves to give kisses and is a very good girl. Bingo would love to be apart of your family.

Hats for sale for $15. 100% of proceeds goes towards medical expenses for our shelter dogs and cats. Hercules, the gray pit mix, dropped off in our parking lot will have to have his leg amputated. He is so sweet. He came in emaciated and injured. Thank God we have him and will get him the care he needs.
