For sale by silent auction: the A-Frame and Dogwalk previously used at All Star Dog Sports. All-aluminum with rubberized, alucubond skins originally manufactured by Jackson Agility in 2008 (I believe). They have only been used and stored indoors other than briefly during trials. Both items come with their own set of removable wheels.

The Dogwalk can be easily lowered to about 2’ in height by removing a few pins or any other height by creative bracing. It has two sets of ramps with 42” (AKC) and 36” (UKI, USDAA) contact zones. The original 36” ramps do have an aluminum brace on each ramp, but do sit flush to the ground. The 42” ramps were made by Tim Allen and are self-reinforced but do have more of a square edge to them. ASDS will keep whichever set is not preferred by the purchaser, unless otherwise arranged. The dogwalk has been used with a center support in the middle of it due to the high volume of larger dogs on it, but that does not come with the dogwalk. It is in great condition.

The AF has had a few minor repairs to welds at the end of one of the ramps and is in great condition. The height can be adjusted easily by the chains that come with it.

Lori Michaels will take privately messaged or texted bids for the next two weeks (until Sept 30), do not message this ASDS account. I do have a set minimum for each. If you place a bid, I will tell you if you are the current highest bidder or not and inform you if you have lost the highest bid. The winning bidder will need to arrange for pick-up at ASDS within the month.

Please feel free to comment or message Lori with any questions!

Hi Monday night students. It looks dicy tonight, especially on the Kansas side where there is a weather isvisory for freezing rain starting at 6pm, plus it hasn’t gotten as warm here as forecasted. We have decided to cancel tonight for the safety of our students traveling to/from class.

We absolutely love that our rental times have been filling up this year. To give all of our patrons equal opportunities to book times, we are updating our rental policies and reinforcing other guidelines that are already in place.

-Please FB message both Cassie and Lori to request a rental time. Those requests need to be made at least 24 hours in advance and sent between 8am-9pm.

-All persons attending the rental need to be listed so we know they have been approved to be in our space. Remember that the fee is the same/hour for up to 2 people and then any additional people are an extra $10 each. For people who are not currently enrolled in classes students at ASDS, the base rental fee is $40/hour. Rentals are not available to people we do not know or have not taken classes at ASDS.

-Due to demand, no more than 3 hours of rentals can be reserved during a 1 week period, per person and no more than two reservations are allowed on the calendar at one time.

-Cancellation/alterations need to made ASAP. The full fee will still be due if the reservation is cancelled within 24 hours of the rental (non weather related). Repeat alterations/ cancellations or non-payment of fees will result in losing rental privileges.

-Please remember this is personal training time, not to be used for coaching or providing instruction (that is subject to additional approval, proof of insurance, a different fee structure, etc). Abuse of this by non-ASDS instructors will result in losing rental privileges.

-There will be times we request that equipment not be moved or, that it is returned to its original location if moved.

-Dogs are expected to be in a crate or supervised at all times. No tethering is allowed.

-Be mindful of returning the key to the lockbox, resetting the combination and closing the door over the dials when done. The sliding black door on the lock box protects the dials from the elements. If this doesn’t get slid back, it can prevent somebody else from accessing the building.

-As always, please treat our space like you would your own. Please pick up after yourselves, remove all your treats/toys and training aids.

CPR is an undeniably valuable skill that is absolutely necessary for the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. By supplementing CPR with AED defibrillators, the chances of survival with the least amount of damage actually doubles.
We are very fortunate to be able to host Basic Life in giving a training class in CPR and the use of our new AED as ASDS.

The class will be held at ASDS on Saturday, January 20th at 9:30 (Please note time change to 9:30). It will be approximately 2 hours in length and Basic Life is happy to answer any questions and will also show us canine CPR. The cost is $55. This is a small price to pay to save someone’s life.

Please let Pam ([email protected]) know if you want to be added to the list. We promise it will be both fun and educational!

Our new AED has arrived! This will placed in an easily accessible location for all future events at ASDS.

I am so excited to share my training program for teaching fluent wraps, pushes and pulls (aka backsides and threadles). Now that agility training has evolved to a place where we can feasibly have 9+ verbal cues for a single jump, we need to make sure that we provide our dogs with the proper understanding of the complex behaviors associated with what we are asking them to perform. Old school methods tend to associate a cue to the situation and have the dogs learn through trial and error. This does not typically result in the dog having independent skills without a lot of supportive information via our location, motion, body cues, that were likely used from the very early training stages to help them learn.
When we teach these behaviors from the dog's perspective, from the ground up and in manner that makes sense to them, we are able to teach the behavior, attach the verbal cue and then apply the cue to the obstacle. The result is behaviors that are performed with greater confidence, speed and independence. In this class, we will focus on the foundation skills that will then be applied to teaching directional jump wraps, Pull wraps (aka threadle wraps), Pull slices (aka threadle slices), Push wraps and slices (backside sends), tight turns out of the tunnel and pulls to the off-side of the tunnel (tunnel pulls). The progression of class over 4+ months allows the dogs to learn behaviors prior to introducing new skills, thus reducing their confusion and learning more efficiently. This is the reason the class length is extended so dogs/handlers may work at their own pace.
More information and training plan is posted on my website. I am offering a discount for full payment of class up front, but split payment and pay as you go is also available. Working spots get unlimited Q&A and video feedback.
Auditing is also available.
