4 Ingredient Homemade Dog Treats

Ingredients
1 cup Flour *
1/2 cup Cheese, grated **
5 oz Tuna, canned
1 large Egg

Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Grate cheese, and add all ingredients into a medium sized bowl.
3. Mix well until a dough forms. (I like to use my hands and really knead the dough together).
4. Coat 8″ x 8″, oven-safe, baking dish with cooking spray. Press mixture into an even layer into baking dish.
5. Bake for 20 minutes, and remove the mixture from pan onto a cutting board.
6. Cut mixture with a chef’s knife, or pizza cutter, into small pieces (about the size of a thumbnail).
7. Return cut treats to baking dish and bake at reduced temperature of 275 degrees for an additional 40-60 minutes. Check dog treats at 40 minutes, and every 5 minutes thereafter, until treats are dried and golden brown. The treats will continue to dry out as they cool.
8. Cut Up Homemade Dog Training Treats in Baking Dish
9. Let treats cool and give to your furry friends!

Notes
*Some dogs may have allergies to different kinds of flours. So, monitor your dog when giving them treats made with flour. Whole-grain, nut, or all-purpose flours may be suitable for your dog.
**I like to use sharp cheddar cheese for these treats, but the smellier the cheese used the better!
Storage: treats can be refrigerated for up to a week, or they can be frozen for up to a month!

"Heads Up Pet Parents if You're Feeding Your Pets Store-bought Jerky Treats!!⚠️

( )

A new veterinary study published in the journal of Tierärztliche Praxis found that dogs are still developing a kidney disorder called Fanconi-like syndrome when fed pet jerky treats.

Fanconi is a disorder of kidney function that results in excess excretion of glucose, electrolytes and amino acids in urine. Signs of the illness included decreased appetite, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, polydipsia and polyuria.

This new study isn't actually new news to veterinarians, in 2007, veterinarians became aware of Fanconi-like signs in multiple other dog breeds without a recognized genetic predisposition, and alerted the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, prompting an investigation. The chief suspect then was found to be commercial jerky treats.

As of today, the FDA has received approximately 5,200 complaints of illnesses associated with consumption of chicken🍗, duck🦆, or sweet potato🍠 jerky treats. The reports involve more than 6,200 dogs, 26 cats, three people, and include more than 1,140 canine deaths." - Rodney Habib

Mini Omelette Recipe for Dogs

Ingredients
• 2 eggs
Eggs are a great source of protein and can help an upset stomach. However, eating raw egg whites can give dogs biotin deficiency, so be sure to cook the eggs all the way through before giving them to your pet.
• ½ cup cooked salmon, thinly sliced, OR pulled grilled chicken
Salmon is loaded with vitamins and protein.
Make sure chicken is skinless and boneless.
• ½ green pepper, diced
Bell peppers provide beta-carotene and are high in vitamin C.

Directions
1. Lightly grease frying pan with a small drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
2. Turn the heat for the frying pan to medium/high
3. Crack eggs into a bowl and stir with fork until mixed
4. Once the frying pan is heated, gently pour the mixed eggs into the center of the frying pan
5. Tilt the pan to spread the egg mixture evenly
6. Once the egg is halfway firm, sprinkle on the green pepper and salmon or grilled chicken
7. With a spatula, fold the egg in half and allow to heat until egg appears to be firm
8. Remove omelet from pan and place on plate
9. Allow to cool and serve
