Sometimes despite our very best efforts, we as rescuers make a mistake.
Here is a photo that illustrates this.
Meet Larry & Carly. They were trapped when they were 3 months old & adopted by what we thought was the perfect family.
Fast forward a year, the *family* has decided they don’t want this sweet brother & sister. In fact, they adopted 2 more kittens.
These babies became disposable & last month made the journey back to South Florida.
Now they are scared & confused. Why are they not in their home? What happened to their parents?
This is what we deal with in rescue on a daily basis.
We are so thankful we have them but look at the harm that was done to them emotionally.
If you have room in your heart - we have Larry & Carly up for adoption.
Larry is the ginger & he is a love. He takes care of his sister Carly who is shy but not mean. She comes out in her own time.
They are about 1.25 years old and in perfect health besides being a little chubby.

We are so thankful to an anonymous donor who has funded a community medicine chest through Changing Tomorrow Animal Rescue.
Too often we saw independent rescuers unable to get antibiotics and other life saving medicines.
We have created the Community Medicine Chest to provide free medicine to those in Pompano Beach or Northern Broward or Southern Palm Beach.
We have medicines like antibiotics, eye meds, ear meds, dewormer, flea treatment, vaccines, antifungals & much more.
We know that these medicines are saving hundreds of cats & kittens. It is also allowing experienced fosters to save money.
A huge thank you to Elizabeth Geary Daugherty for being our Wikipedia of medicines and agreeing to hold all of the supplies for this program. We could not do this without your support and knowledge.
Again we would like to thank the anonymous donor who believed in this program.

Working in Boston this week..

Little Miss Dove was able to hitch a flight. She hit the jackpot with her new parents! Rescued by Belle Laue, fostered by another beautiful soul, home found by the fabulous Tobey Robertson Nutt through Changing Tomorrow Animal Rescue. Tobey and Laura Changing Tomorrow have found us the greatest homes, we couldn’t rescue like we do, without them. They work tirelessly on the applications.

It costs you nothing to be a flight Angel. Animals can’t help themselves. We must step up and do better for them.

It takes a village of people and we need more members of the community to join our village.

Lady Godiva was an office kitty who got out when she was in heat. Fast forwarded 60+ days and we have 6 kittens born at the office. They are now 2 weeks old and scurrying about.They are so cute. Eyes are open & they love tummy time. .

Today we are going to focus on the positive.
The REASON WE DO RESCUE!
Leo & Sully came to us very sick. Sully had to have SubQ fluids & tons of meds. He had Coccidia which is rampant in South Florida & a kitty cold.
These babies were a mess.
Fast forward 2 months are they are in their forever home with their brother who considers himself the . We have to agree.

PLEASE READ!!!
How one cat made such a difference!!!
My rescue partner, Tobey, & I met over four years ago while my husband & I were looking for a playmate for our darling Jolie. Jolie was feline leukemia positive & we were looking for another FelV cat.
We met Tobey who is the queen of kitty match making. We looked around the shelter and found a sweet boy who was so scared he would not come out of his cage.
Mikey stole our hearts.
We brought him home & very slowly he came out of his shell. Then, like every cat, he was running the house. He would snuggle with both of us, had an affinity for jumping on our coffee table & running away with people food & napping like a walrus.
He was the goofiest and best cat.
He lived with us for over 4 years and made it to 6.5 years old WITH feline leukemia.
Today he passed over the rainbow bridge 🌈.
BUT HIS LEGACY will live on for decades.
Because Tobey Roberson Nutt & I met those many years ago, we became friends & rescue partners.
Over the last 2 years we have successfully adopted out over 700 cats & kittens in a dozen states.
So although Mikey left us today what a legacy & a gift he leaves behind. So many animals and families are happy because of the bond that Mikey forged between me & Tobey.
One cat can change the world.
Mikey shows us that.

3 of the 5 boys are ADOPTED!!🎉🎉🎉
Sunny & Stormy still available.
We have orange kitten madness going on here in South Florida. We transport up North.
Up for adoption 3 month old brothers Sailor & Fisher BONDED. These boys are more a buff color. They are happy, confident boys who love each other.
Also up for adoption are brothers Sunny & Stormy BONDED. Sunny is a handsome 3 month old orange tabby kitten. Stormy is a stunning swirly orange tabby. Sunny is a complete love and he helps give Stormy confidence as he is a bit shy. His adopter will need patience.
Finally we have Nacho who is about 2.5 months old. He is very confident and a complete love.

We would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the Saul & Pauline Gittleman Foundation for their continued support.
We now have secondary HVAC (air conditioning & heat) in the back of our Changing Tomorrow van.
This is such a BIG DEAL to us as we are SO PROUD of our amazing transport program & transporters.
We would be remiss not to mention that this foundation also gave a grant for our van last year.
Here’s to relocating as many kitties as possible.

Whether it is a van or a big plane or small planes or a car - we love to see our babies go to their forever home.
We are so thankful that Robin, a delta employee & huge cat lover, brought Kodiak & Goliath home.
It took 14 hours & she even dropped them at home.
We are nothing without wonderful volunteers who help us get our kitties all over the US.
Thank you Robin for being our Flight Angel.

We are drowning in kittens.
There are so many outside that we cannot help.
Since we said goodbye to our fosters just days ago, we have brought in almost 25 kittens & cats.
We still have mama cats too.

Changing Tomorrow Animal Rescue was very happy to help out a group of displaced cats. All organized by independent rescuers & trappers, over 30 cats were saved from demolition. This effort was spearheaded by Margaret. 15 kitties made their way to the cat Sanctuary in Northwest Florida. Many thanks to Casey, Nicole, Debbie & Sarah & Pete Dunn for contributing to the transport costs. Most of all many thanks to Christine & Debbie for taking a 12 hour road trip today.

This is what our volunteers do. They spend their own money to try to bring these poor creatures back to life. Elizabeth Geary Daugherty is an example of a true rescuer. We would love to help her save this boy. Any donations will go straight to Elizabeth.
Here is Tom Cat’s story from his rescuer.

These pictures sum up the life of an unfixed community cat…

Cheeks so swollen his eye lashes are touching his eye ball. Can you imagine how annoying and painful this is?!

Ears so infected that he shakes his head constantly, causing painful hematomas.

Infested with fleas so his skin is constantly itchy, no relief ever.

Hormones so out of control that he fights off the other Tom Cats in the neighborhood to get some action from the multiple unfixed females in the neighborhood. Those poor females get r***d time, and time again.

He has been living in this neighborhood for Five years. 5 years! As the the neighbors say, “HE AIN’T MY CAT”

He was set for Trap Neuter & Release. (Who the heck is going to foster a stinky or adopt a big stinky unfriendly Tom).  We realized how pathetic and sad he looked and Elizabeth took him to the vet for us. He had a few broken teeth and had his eye ball fixed.

Attached is his invoice. This was a very generous offer. There was so much more to this guy than on this paper.

I’ll update everyone later today on his invoice and recovery!
