See this super handsome boy? Someone dumped him out on a remote stretch of road about 9 months ago. The kind people who saved him have entrusted his still-leary heart to me for the next 7 days. I am honored. We will take it slow. Archer is a very good boy who deserves to feel comfortable in his own home. (It might have started off poorly - but he has now won the dog lottery of life!)

Oregon has cooled of dramatically in the past week or so. But sometimes that makes for some very dramatic skies.

Here we have beautiful Daisy Mae doing her best to accept having her photo taken. She’s a bit camera shy. ❤️ But she does love the walks about town.

Yesterday we had possibly (probably) the last decent weather we will have in western Oregon until next spring. Renn and I took full advantage of it by taking an extra long walk around the neighborhood. That included a photo op outside the Governor’s Mansion.

Spooky season is in full swing!

You’re going to hear about what’s happening in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Ohio. It’s not pretty. It is in fact a catastrophic disaster - one I can’t just let “be.” You may get tired of hearing from me about it. I don’t care. If you’re like me and wonder what you can do from so far away - here’s one thing. Even if all you have is enough to pay for a bottle of formula or a gallon of fuel, I beg you to send it.

These people are risking their lives and the welfare of their animals to HELP. I’ve never been a mule fan - until now. They’re loading pack strings with supplies and taking them into the mountains and hollers.

There’s a Venmo link on their FB page that I hope you will share. Even if you’re not in a position to donate, you are in a position to share this far and wide.

This isn’t a 3 week fix. This is going to be a long, long, long haul. If you’re unsure about the level of destruction, I’m posting a message from one of the linemen on-site in the comments. Brace yourself. It isn’t for the faint of heart.

May God’s hand be on them as they push into the unknown.

UPDATE: She has found her forever home!!!

I thought it had become very “still” in the last 15 minutes…

Darla’s playmates are exhausted! Now, to just get this little babe to nod off before they wake up. 🙏🏼

PS: Darla is a foster and looking for her new home. She’s ADORABLE and wicked smart. (Woodburn, Oregon) Solid hybrid. We are guessing boxer and German Shorthaired Pointer. Maybe? So fast! So cute!
