I can't make it any more clear than this!?!?!??!
If you choose to ignore it and book anyway, well you've just wasted your own time because your appt is still going to be declined.
So don't even bother because you don't have an address to get service. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Dear Clients,

If you want to keep your dog in a longer trim, you are going to have to brush their whole entire body, legs, belly, face, etc in order to do that.

My college classes start back next week (1/9) and it shortens my grooming schedule significantly. I will not have time to dematt a long coat. So unfortunately, if you can't keep your dog brushed between appts, then I'll have to take it as short as necessary to get under the matts, even if that means clipped to the skin.

If that's not an option, then you'll have to find another groomer. I hate to be this way but I'm keeping on 70 clients (90 dogs) and getting everyone in is going to be tight. I know there are going to be people who just need more than I can provide at this point... So please don't feel like you are going to hurt my feelings if you need to look elsewhere. I get it. And I'll be closing down salon in about two years any way. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 😭

Online scheduling is open thru May 12th and I will move that date further out once I have next semester's classes scheduled. You can log in on the new page very easily to see your appts. Click "My Bookings" and the system will prompt you for the cell phone number where you receive appt reminders.

I hope you all are having a great start to the new year and I hope to see you soon!
~April

ARE LAUNDRY CHEMICALS AFFECTING YOUR PETS’ SKIN & HEALTH?

If you wash your pet blankets and beds using popular fabric softeners and dryer sheets, that “just washed” fresh smell comes from chemicals called Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) that can negatively impact your pets’ health (coughing, rashy, itchy pets, anyone?).

Dr. Anne Steinmann’s UW-Seattle research team found more than 25 VOCs emitted from dryer vents using these products, including well-known respiratory irritants like Acetone, Formaldehyde, Acetaldehyde, but also Pentane (which causes skin rashes and upset stomach), Ethyl Acetate (on the EPA’s Hazardous Waste list; causes anemia, changes in white blood cells and can damage the liver and kidneys), Benzyl Acetate (can be absorbed through the skin and is linked to pancreas problems) and Alpha-terpineol (causes headaches and nervous system disorders).

Our pets can do without having to breathe in these chemical residues or having to lay on them, so here’s our Forever Dog Tip of the day: replace chemical-laden fabric softeners with a non-toxic DIY option!

Recipe: Mix 6 cups white vinegar with 1 cup baking soda, let it fizz. When the fizz stops, pour mixture into a large glass container with a lid. Use 1 cup per load of laundry.

We highlight all of the of home chemical risks that can negatively impact your dog’s health in the The Forever Dog book, available now for pre-order by clicking here: https://foreverdog.com/about/ -window

PROTECTING YOUR PUP'S HEART HEALTH!🫀

One of our favorite longevity foods we include in The Forever Dog book are pomegranates, particularly for your pup’s heart health.🐶🫀 Cardiac diseases are the second most prevalent cause of death for dogs.💔 Previous studies have highlighted that oxidative stress plays a major role in the development and progression of cardiovascular disease in dogs. And research has shown protecting cells from this oxidative stress can reduce the onset and progression of canine diseases such as heart failure, and cardiomyopathies.

Pomegranates are incredibly rich in polyphenols, containing higher levels than other fruit and three times more than red wine🍷 and green tea🍵. These powerful antioxidants protects cells from oxidative stress and damage. Rapidly absorbed by the body, the antioxidants in pomegranate also protect against cartilage deterioration and joint damage by blocking inflammatory enzymes.

In addition, pomegranates contain molecules called “elligantans,” which gut microbes🦠 convert to urolithin A. Urolithin A has been shown to regenerate defective mitochondria in worms - increasing their life span by more than 45%! Tests with rodents proved similar results, and early clinical trials reveal the same may hold true for humans (and presumably dogs too).

🐶You’d be surprised how many dogs will eat these tart, crunchy little ‘seeds’ mixed in with their food or as a treat. Feed about one teaspoon for every ten pounds of body weight.🥄

🎉Looking for more ways make your dog healthier in 2022? You can find more healthy food ideas and ways to freshen up your pet’s food, along with feeding guidelines in our book foreverdog.com

WHAT IF YOUR DOG COULD LIVE TO BE 27!? ❤️🐾

Sadly, only one out of a thousand dogs lives up to 21-25 years. The vast majority of dogs die younger from various diseases, many of which are outcomes of lifestyle factors such as diet and exercise. So when we set out to write The Forever Dog book, we wanted to know, “what do these long-lived dogs have in common?” 🐶🤔

One of the dogs we came across was Buksi, a 27-year old mixed-breed in Hungary!! Dr. Eniko Kubinyi, the head researcher of the Methuselah dog study, told us Buksi lived on a horse riding farm🐎 and led a “free life”, able to make choices based on preferences and wasn’t constantly restrained in his movement. Like many other long-lived dogs we came across, he consumed raw unprocessed foods, spent a great deal of time outdoors, and also had a rich social life - having daily contact with new people👧🏻👨🏼‍🦳👩🏼, horses🐴, as well as other dogs🐕.

Diet, exercise, stress and environmental factors all play a role in our pet's wellbeing and potentially lifespan.🧬 What are some of the changes you’ve made in your pet’s life after reading The Forever Dog? We’d love to hear your comments and takeaways below! 💬👇

You can read more about these long-lived dogs and our suggestions for what you can do to help maximize your dog’s health in our new book: ForeverDog.com

Don't call me either because I'm not a vet. If your family can't refrain from feeding the pets, lock them up in another room ~ your choice if I meant the pets or the family.

I'm putting this out in the public domain because I'm tired of being treated like s**t. And yes you can share that I said that.

Today I fired a client because the dog bit me, today, and bit my assistant on his last visit. The rest of the day, two of this clients family members harassed me via text messages because I refused to call them "to talk about it". I've had zero dealings with them. I do not know them. They threatened to leave me bad reviews on Google because I refused to finish grooming the dog. All the while they were referring to how I claim the dog is matted but their mother brushes the dog every day and loves it dearly.

They seem to completely forget the part where the dog has bitten two different people on two different occasions.

I let them both know that I would let other groomers in my area know they are leaving bad reviews and harassing ME because of THEIR biting matted dog.

That's only fair, isn't it?! If you are going to leave a business a one star review, surely the business should be able to warn others about your behavior as well. I sent them a screenshot of the post I made in my statewide groomer group, full names included. Suddenly I am "soiling their family name" because I'm telling my side of the story.

Ahhh.... Pot. Kettle.

Don't be a hypocrite, Karen. Don't expect to drag my name through the dirt then call me disrespectful when I tell others about you.

Brush your dog. And when someone says your dog is biting - has bitten two people - that's the part you should take to heart. That's the part you don't leave out.

I sure won't.

◾"According to a study conducted over a 6 year period at the Foster Hospital for Small Animals at Tufts University’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, exposure to lawn pesticides, specifically those applied by professional lawn care companies, raised the risk of canine malignant lymphoma (CML) by as much as 70%
Dogs at highest risk for acquiring CML were over 50 pounds and living in homes where pesticides and herbicides were professionally applied, as well as homes where owners used lawn care products containing insect growth regulators, aka chemical killing agents.
Another study performed at the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Purdue University concluded certain garden and lawn chemicals are linked to canine bladder cancer, including common herbicides containing 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), 4-chloro-2-methylphenoxypropionic acid (MCPP) and/or dicamba."
