"I started working at Northwest Animal Hospital in October of 2024. I have a chocolate Labrador named, Maggie May, and a calico kitty named, Babycup. I enjoy art and painting whenever I can. I also am a bit of a homebody so I like watching movies, listening to music, and hanging out with my family. The best part about my job is absolutely the rewarding feeling of knowing that even though these animals are not mine, I get to love them and treat them as if they were my own baby. I love the feeling of knowing they’re safe, healthy, and happy under my care."

"Hey! I’m Courtney and I started at Northwest Animal Hospital in September of 2024 and currently work as a Kennel Technician. I am very involved in the Idaho Agricultural
industry and currently, I have one dairy heifer named Tennessee and I raise meat sheep
for sale. In my free time, I enjoy working with my livestock and keeping up with farm
chores! The best part of my job here is getting to know all the animals and their different personalities and learning how to best handle each animal!"

Canine influenza (sometimes called dog flu) is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by two type A influenza viruses known to infect dogs. There have been confirmed cases of Canine Influenza in Boise and according to the American Veterinary Medical Association, dogs of any breed, age, s*x, or health status are at risk. Almost all dogs exposed to the virus become infected. Infection can occur at any time of year.

Infection with canine influenza virus has occasionally been diagnosed in cats as well, with cats in animal shelters at the highest risk. There is no evidence that people can catch canine influenza.

What are the signs of canine influenza? The signs of canine influenza are similar to those of canine infectious respiratory disease complex ("kennel cough”):

🩺Persistent cough
🩺Thick nasal discharge
🩺Fever (often 104-105oF)
🩺Lethargy
🩺Runny eyes
🩺Reduced appetite
