The A - Frame photo. 🙃
Typically in trials the A frame is photographed from the side - at a distance suitable to framing the entire feature and dog.
Not the typical photographer, I have struggled to find "MY" angle on this feature. Until now....
For this boutique session I was on the ground, flat on my back, snugged up to the contact, with my chest at the end of the feature.
Then, I would my grab my focus and have the handler send the dog. The timing is key, using my ears to estimate when the dog will crest over - and hopefully I get the shot! Indy was just so fun to do this with! She was so accustomed to me and my camera at and on features with her. Un-phased by me she sailed by with epic precision every pass until I got this shot. No doubt my most unique A - frame to date with Contact Point Indy!

I was beyond psyched to have this guy on my roster. First, I have spent some time photographing his daughter in agility so getting dad on sheep? Yeah that was pretty epic. The best part was when I was told these were his first and only professional portraits. Meet "Dallas" - his personality is such a contrast to his daughter - this guy is ALL business. The portrait with him standing and looking at me proves it.
He had been working all weekend behind the scenes and when we went to post him up for poses he looked at me like "You interrupted my work for THIS???" 😂🐑😂
OMG I fell over laughing when I captured that expression. Immediately I asked his handler; "That is totally "him" isn't it??!??"! She gave me the confirming nod and yes... 100% working dog.
He did relax tho and totally was down to work with me.
His action portraits show his cool approach to livestock. I also wanted his set to reflect the joy working livestock brings to him. I hope that shows here.

GotDog? Winter Sheep Trial sets are under development today! What an amazing day of canine greatness, so many cool photo opportunities. The lighting was perfect and the course layout allowed for some fun angles.
Mill Iron S Ranch dog Valentine test photo. Grabbed this as I was setting up for my dogs. I had to develop this immediately after seeing it. This photo will be on canvas and available in the gallery very soon.
That's right, I am developing a canine action series gallery of framed canvas wall art work that I will be debuting for the 2025 season! More info coming soon. - Adam

I am not sure where to even start...

This dog - this set. Many a photo have I taken of her, and IMO none are like these turned out.
First, having the one on one session was key.
With no other dogs around, Indy knew it was all about her.
She somehow even knew what I wanted from her.
The proof is in the results.
She was clearly working for both and her handler AND the photographer.
She is a dog like no other, and a very special Contact Point collie.
One of my goals for this shoot was to capture her sweetness. She is such a gentle love bug and the sweetest girls. I felt most all my photos always just had that intense working dog look.

I wanted to capture her personalty, not just intensity.

This weekends GotDog? LLC December Winter Series stock dog trial will be my final event of the year! WOW!
2024 was such an amazing journey, and I will be sharing some stats soon. In the meantime, check out these photos from last spring at the ranch. Snow is on the mountains and the forecast of cloud cover for soft lighting should make for some photo-magic moments!

Projekt Performance Holiday Agility course design is making for some epic sets.
I found placing the photos in sequence, creates what appears to be a course run!
This is "Margo" - agility dog in training.
I love working with new agility dogs to get them accustomed to photographers. In no time at all she resolved her place in the situation and was having great fun!
