With 15 minutes of patience, reassurance, and determination, Auri has allowed her first ever fly mask experience! The flies love her eyes and face too much. We’ve put swat cream on her to try and help, but she likes to try and rub it off and we needed a better solution. She didn’t like the sound of the Velcro fly masks, so we thought we’d give a try tonight to get the spandex mask on. Her forelock is a bit wonky under the mask, but it’s not in her eyes and that’s what counts! This was a big step for this young mare to trust us to put something over her face that she’s never seen before (except on her herd mates here at the rescue) or experienced on her self. We’re very proud of her!! We will see if it survives till the morning. 😉

Just some little updates as farrier day draws near!
⭐️Auri is working hard on being patient when her feet are lifted. Her front feet are fantastic! Hind feet, it’s a 50/50 kick out. But, she’s progressing nicely. She’s loving all the extra attention and becoming more and more curious!
⭐️ Aries eyes are at the point you can actually see that he’s blind. We will continue to monitor with the specialist about if we will need to enucleate and when. But, he’s as happy as a clam otherwise. The girls are still letting him think that he’s in charge. 😉
⭐️ Shae is continuing her tune up work slowly and gently as we try to figure out what is going on in her front feet. We will continue with corrective farrier work and we are going to be scheduling X-rays for her to see if we can better help her be comfortable.
⭐️ We are going to be getting our memorial tail pieces from Ginger and Tallis in the next couple of weeks. They’re finished and beautiful thanks to Equine Jeweled Designs ( )
⭐️ Farrier day is coming! If anyone would like to help sponsor a trim, Auri’s sedation meds, or anything towards Shae’s shoes, please let us know! We definitely could use some assistance!

Helping critters big and small! No matter wild or domestic! The office cats got ahold of this little one and, luckily, it was unharmed. It reunited with the rest of its family after throwing some seed out and playing quail noises. ☺️ such a cute little baby and family!

We got to teach a class today about our rescue and sanctuary horses! Everyone got cookies and pets and the class really seemed to enjoy it. We were glad to shed some light on blind horses and different medical conditions. It’s always wonderful to teach the next generation. 💜

We said goodbye to miss Tallis Jay this morning. At 34yrs old with her heart condition, arthritis, body condition, and cancer we knew we were on borrowed time. She has been declining over the last couple of weeks and it was in her best interest to say goodbye to her before she got too much worse. Thank you to our wonderful vet at Flying A Veterinary for helping her cross the bridge, to Deads Inc for hauling her away, to Stella’s for sponsoring her haul away, and to everyone who has been following with her and donating to our cause and her care. She felt every ounce of that love in the 300lbs she gained while in our care. She left knowing love, a full belly, and a mouth full of sweet feed. ❤️‍🩹 She’s running free with Ginger now. 🌈 RIP Tallis Jay 🌈

Shae is shedding out, thankfully! She’s starting to get better about touch and even had a little work out this evening that ended with a rider mounted. Auri was fine with scratches today but not worth getting her mane worked on. Tallis is doing fantastic and seemed to want to do something after everyone else was worked with and put her nose in the halter by herself. Aries had a short ride today and seemed to enjoy it and kept following to find more work. Everyone was having a blast this evening with what was done. 💜
