Sometimes I wish I wore a go pro so I could share the amazing transformations I see when out working with all these pups.

Take Tilly here for example. The day I met her I spent an hour running through every trick I knew to get Tilly to come to me. She eventually did but didnt want to stay to close for to long. On her second visit she reluctantly went for a walk with me. Third vist she happily greeted me at the door and we headed to the ( 1 dog in it).

The dog park was scary at first but she calmed down and started to slightly play with the other dog. The 4th visit consisted of another trip to the dog park where she excitedly pulled me through the gate to go play with the10+ dogs that were there.

Finally, today I decided it was time for Tilly to conquer her fear of people. We headed to the Village in Meridan where we were sure to find lots of willing participants to give her lots of pets. Tilly did fabulous. By the end of the session she was happily greeting anyone we walked passed.

Tilly has made amazing progress in the short time we have been working together.

Little Daisy May gets to stay with me for a little while to learn how to be a good girl. One thing I love about doing this is it always keeps my puppy fever in check. I get to love the new baby and then they get to go home to their new family. Isnt she just the cutest!

This little girl has been working hard on her recall. We started distraction training last week. Though you cant see them in this video well there are a bunch of ducks over in those trees. She wanted to check them out but knew listening to me was her job.

This holiday weekend be sure to keep a close eye on your fur babies. Lots of treats and praise will help them through their fear of loud noises. Make it as positive an experience as possible.

My training work has been pretty limited since I shut down for covid. Mostly because I haven't actively pursued clients. I take on anyone who reaches out and have enjoyed being back into the swing of things lately.

I am currently raising a liter of goldendoodle puppies using puppy culture protocol and these little pups truly amaze me at 5.5 weeks old with everything they are learning. We did a quick photo shoot today and omg they were litockstars.

Bringing home a new puppy can be an exciting and hectic time. Those first few weeks are busy ones for sure. Potty training, crate training, and bonding is generally what you can expect those first few weeks to look like. To make it all easier set a schedule like the one below. There are a few things to keep in mind when setting your schedule.

Did you know a puppy between the ages 8 and 13 weeks sleeps 18-20 hrs a day? Be sure to have scheduled naps in a crate or quite area where the puppy will not be disturbed. Lack of sleep can lead to a variety of undesirable behaviors.

Its hard to schedule every potty break in the begining but there are a few guranteed times your puppy will need to go out. First thing after waking, eating, and directly after exercise are all guranteed times for potty. You should also take your puppy potty before bed and will most likely be up evey 2 hours throught the night in the begining.

Scheduling 2 training sessions a day can help you buold a strong bond with your puppy and help develop their ability to continually learn new things for life.

As I have stated before frequent exercise is the key to a well behaved puppy. Keep in mind though that walks should be done in your own back yard until the puppy is fully vaccinated.

This schedule is a great starting point but will need to be customized to work with your personal schedule.

Bark Bark! Here are some funnies and some food for thought.

The breeds that have the biggest "problem" with barking were bred to bark. What we consider a problem is natual behavior for them. Natural behaviors are the hardest to change.

Gave this girl a voice. As soon as I can make lables we will move all her buttons together but for now they are location based. She has buttons for outside, play, and treat. Which do you think is her favorite?

Miss Mocha is getting big. Her training slowed down a little with the holidays but I should have some content for you soon. I am hoping that with the release of the vaccine things will start getting better and my training area will open up back up. If you are checking out my page don't hesitate to message me with any questions.

Double trouble all worn out after some good exercise chasing the laser pointer in the dark. Laser pointer chase is a great way to expel energy quick. I find the longest strip of the yard and run them back and forth until they start to slow down. This is an efficient way to get exercise on busy days if your dog is interested in chasing tge mysterious red dot.

I know I have said it a million times so let me make it a million and one. Exercise makes a well behaved dog. Deapite having 2 puppies in the house, and it being freezing cold, I still take them out for a good run and exercise. They are to young to be fully off leash but these 2 work well with a buddy system. They each have a 6ft leash attached and then my 33ft leash which I use during off leash training is doubled over connecting the 2 of them. This set up gives them plenty of space to run but also gives me a decent amount to get hold of if they run to far. Also, I can typically get one of them to come back at all times which stops the other from running the wrong direction. If you plan on training your dog in a public area or plan on training off leash behaviors I highly recomend this 33ft long lead.

Potty bells give your dog the ability to let you know when they need to go out. This is articularly helpful for people who are busy and dont always notice there dogs ques. Mocha loves having the ability to aak to go iutside and asks many times a day. Not always to go potty but anytike she wants to be out there. Sometimes if I know she doesnt need to go potty her request is. If you would like to know how I trained Mocha to ring the bells let me know in the comments.

With 2 of these little monster's in the house I a going to have to get creative over the next couple weeks. Thabk goodness they are both aready crate trained. First focus is potty training dog number 2 but other then basics who thinks I sould teach them a cute 2 dog trick like hugging eachother or something. Co.ment bellow what you thing I shoud try and teach them while Mochas sister visits over the next 2 weeks.

All dogs can be trained some dogs are easier then others. Clyde and Mocha are the perfect example of different levels of trainability while both easy to train old man Clyde has surpassed actually having to be taught new things himself and simply copies what he sees me training Mocha to do today we were learning how to ring different types of bells. Bells to outside to go potty and bells to get food. Clyde pushed the baby out of the way to ring the bell for food because he always wants food. 😂

Today we learned speak. This one is a little tricky. You have to figure out what gets your dog excited enough to bark. Especially if you have already scholded them for barking inappropriately. The good new is you can turn this into them understanding when it is appropriate to bark and when it isnt.

Remeber with a puppy stimulation is key. If they arent kept busy by you they will find their own busy work. Whenever you see Mocha you will notice she always has something to keep her busy. Even when in bed we surround her with a variety of toys and chewing items. Even with that she still requires a lot of exercise and supervision.

Mocha has been here a week and while our biggest focus at this age is socialization and enviornmental conditioning she has picked up a few basics throughout the week. She really does enjoy learning.

My training area is still closed but I have been craving some work time with puppies sooooooo! I got a new puppy. Meet Mocha. I will share some videos of her training and progress while I am shut down and if you have any questions on how I train a specific item just ask and I will give you pointers.

Mocha is training to be a mobility support dog so when we return to live training sessions she may be with me to help your pups with their behaviors.

What do you feed your pups? Food matters when it comes to health and behavior. My boy Clyde has struggled with food for many years. From allergy issues to pancreas issues. When his health is struggling because of his diet so does his ability to focus on my commands.

Many years ago I fed my dogs strictly a raw diet this however was expensive as I was focusing in on high protein to get the through their gruling days of 30 mile runs along side the horse or 10 mile hikes in the mountains. I included raw lean meat such as rabbit and lean beef along with brown rice, veggies, and sweet potato.

Now days with my older dogs and slowed down lifestyle it is far less expensive to do homemade food. We are focused on a low fat diet of cooked ground turkey, veggies, blueberries, and brown rice. I love that they eat less and I know they are only getting healthy nutritious food. With 2 big dogs it is definitely a big chore making and dividing up their food but they sure do love it which makes it all worth it to me.

Woooh! It has been forever since I posted. Been a little down about still not being able to see ll of your peppers. I am still waiting on the owners of the training area to open it back up. They are doing things as a company not by individual state and that means waiting on regulations for 7 other states to line up with us. I am in constant contact with them and when I know more of a time line I will share.

I am going to be gone until the 7th. When I return if things are still projected to be closed I will be contacting individuals who have prepaid for lessons to discuss options of refunds and/or possible credits towards future lessons.

I truly appreciate everyone's patience with me. It has been a trialing time for most of us and particularly for small business owners. Be sure to show them all your love and support as they do their best to get themselves back up and running.

How excited is everyone to get back to training? I know I am thrilled to see your furbabies. Right now the only thing baring me from scheduling with each of you is lack of access to my training area. I am grateful for everyone's patience. Once the dog park is opened up I will be able to schedule with each of you unfortunately it is out of my control when it will be opened. I check with the manager of the land daily and once she gets the go ahead to open it up she will let me know.

04/24/2020

Good news everyone! If every thing goes as planned with the govenors 4 step plan it looks like I will be able to hold private lessons again after May 1st. I will begin contacting everyone for scheduling after the official announcement.

If you were hoping to join my group lesson we will have to wait a little longer for that.

I can't wait to see all my dog friends and their owners.
