Our favorite thing in the world is when you guys get to experience that every day around here is never the same as the last.
You never know what to expect... you might notice a new enclosure, we may have a new activity, you may get to watch an alligator feeding, or even pet a snake for the first time.
Even on days like this, you get to interact with Richard on his enrichment walk around the zoo.

And we love that!!!

We can't wait to hear what you notice on your next visit. :)

Everyone meet Olaf!

Yes! It's finally happened!

We FINALLY have our very own ALBINO ALLIGATOR!!!!

Be sure to go through all of the pictures to see what is extra special about Olaf. Besides, the obvious, he loves warm hugs.

But as you notice... he has an adorable crooked smile caused by a birth defect that slanted his bottom jaw to the side a little bit. Which is fine by us, because he still eats great and really it wouldn't be one of our alligators if it didn't come with some sort of special need, right?

Either way... if you think he is adorable in pictures, you gotta come see him in person. These pictures do not do him any justice!

Thank you so much to everyone who sent us pictures for the cover of the upcoming Parents Guide Magazine.
We are not only so impressed by how many we received, but even more so thankful to Parents Guide for making the impossible task of choosing one.

We hope to do more like this in the future, so keep an eye out. :)

Hey guys... if you're looking for something fun for everyone... we have INTERACTIVE Reptile Shows every weekday at 11am and 2pm for all of Winter Break.
Oh... and it's always 72 degrees in here! So if you're looking for a warm indoor activity, we are your place to be!

Even though we can't believe it's already here... WINTER BREAK IS HERE!!!

We will be here every day like always, with the exception of closing at 2pm Christmas Eve and Closed Christmas.

Other than that, we can't wait to spend it with all of you, especially every weekday at 11am and 2pm for live reptile shows and Sundays at 2pm for Alligator Feedings!

Hey guys!!!
WE ARE BACK!!!!
We apologize for being gone, but it was totally worth it. It was so great for our family and staff to get away and relax in our home away from home.
We spent the week exploring and learning from Florida animal parks (especially the ones with ALLIGATORS), catching up with friends and making some new ones, getting out in nature, but most of all, being a part of crocodile conservation.
This event for Crocfest raised over $40000 to help crocodile research in the wild. As a whole, has raised over $1 million for crocodile conservation. We are so happy to be a part of that.

As much fun as we had, we couldn't wait to come home and see our animals, amazing community, and guests.

Start applying new ideas, techniques we learned, and different ways for you to interact with them safely!

We're open tomorrow, Thursday, December 19th, with regular hours amd cant wait to see everyone!

We'll be posting our fun holiday schedule tomorrow as well.

Hey guys!!!! The Parents Guide reached out to us again for the cover of their BIRTHDAY SPECIAL ISSUE, which was when we had the cover posted last. We would like to do this every year.
BUT we can't decide on which picture to use this time. So we thought it would be fun to open this up to you guys.

If you have a cute picture that you took here with an animal or at a birthday party, send it in. Feel free to email them to us at [email protected] or post it in the comments, and we're gonna send them every one we get and let them choose the one they like.

This is open from now until December 12th!

We can't wait to see what gets sent in. :)

Hey guys... it's no secret how much our alligators and crocodiles mean to us. But what is kind of a secret.... is how much help they need in the wild. Believe it or not, these prehistoric animals are on the brink of extinction. Of the 27 species of crocodilian, 1/3 of them are critically endangered, another 1/3 vulnerable, and thankfully, the last 1/3 are "safe," at least for now.
With that being said, here at the Idaho Reptile Zoo, we want to start doing more to help. So we have started going to an amazing conservation event called "Crocfest". This is an amazing organization that holds these spectacular events to raise money for crocodilian conservation. And this year, we are hoping to help them reach the $1 million mark for funds going toward crocodilians in the wild.
Every year, they pick a different project to help support. But this event is actually going towards TWO amazing projects. If you would like to help support as well, we can your donations to them via our venmo , or we will also be converting our donation spot at the zoo into a Crocfest spot for the time being. So come by and let the Crocs know how much you care.

With all of that being said, we are going to take this amazing opportunity and take our entire staff with us for a "family trip" to the amazing state of Florida. Not just for the crocodilian work. But it's an amazing place to learn more about all different techniques and approaches to each of the different family of reptiles. And we can't wait to apply what we learn while in Florida to our already amazing facility here in Idaho.

Now, since we are taking the whole staff, that means we will be closed from December 10-17th. But we'll be back in time for Chistmas break. And we have some big plans for that too. We''ll post that another day, though.

Thank you all for your amazing support. And we'll miss you like crazy! And keep you posted on the fun the whole time.

This Thanksgiving Break, we want to show you guys how thankful we are for each and every one of you.
And the biggest thing everyone asks for IS MORE SHOWS!!!!

SO ALL THANKSGIVING BREAK WE ARE GOING TO HAVE ANIMAL SHOWS MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 11AM AND 2PM!!! (Except for Thursday, we are closing at 2 pm, so we will only have the 11am show!)
THEY ARE ALL OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!!!

Oh my goodness!!!
We are so excited to announce that we OFFICIALLY have some AMAZING new opportunities for some really incredible education through interaction here at the Idaho Reptile Zoo!!!
Just like the pictures show... we have opportunities to get hands on and go in and help in a training session with Gomer and Douglas, feed our baby alligators, interact with monitor lizards, go in and feed our parakeets and iguanas, get some one on one time with a giant constrictor, and one I think will be the biggest hit.. the creepy crawly experience with our invertebrates.

If interested, just let the front desk know when you check in, and they'll get you all set up.

Hey guys.. its that time of year again where life starts to kind of slow down around town. But life in the zoo is always up and active. So we thought we would make this go fund me for those who are not able to come out and say hi in person can still support their favorite animals.

As a reminder... we are a 501c3 NonProfit so if you would like a donation please let us know and we would be happy to provide you with a receipt.

As always... we appreciate everything this community has given us. And we love being involved in such an amazing area.

I know it was last weekend... but we wanted to thank everyone for coming out to CROCTOBERFEST!!!
We had a blast hanging out with you guys!
We hope you had just as much fun hanging out and learning about some of our amazing crocodilians!!!
We know there were quite a few that got pics taken with some of them... if you'd like to share, we'd love to see em!

But again... we just wanted to say thank you to everyone who came out, and we hope to see everyone again this Friday for the GLOW PARTY!!!!!

THIS FRIDAY the 25th from 6pm till 9pm we'll have everything you need for a great Halloween Party!
We're gonna have Trick or Treating stations!
We're gonna have snacks!
We're gonna have animals out for interaction!
We're gonna do our favorite event of the year... our Flashlight Feeding Frenzy!
And you can't have a glow party with lights.... so they'll all be off!!! We will have glowsticks and other glow accessories available, but feel free to bring yours too!
And while you're at it... WEAR COSTUMES!!!!

Happy Croctober 9th!
Everyone mark your calendars!!! One of our favorite events of the year is coming up!
OCTOBER 19TH from 10AM-2PM is CROCTOBERFEST!!!!

We'll have homemade custom snacks and drinks for the occasion!
We'll have interaction stations with our crocodilians. So you can pet, hold, even take a picture with our little babies.
And of course, an Alligator Feeding Show at 1pm as well!

HAPPY CROCTOBER!!!
We have so many fun activities we are planning for this month to learn about and celebrate these amazing animals!
We have already started our "Gator Hour" every weekday from 4-6p where you can pet and hold an alligator!
We now have Alligator Feeding and Training Shows EVERY Sunday at 2 pm!
PLUS, we are working on a big CROCtoberfest event, a Halloween party, as well as a few extra!

I know at first glance this looks like just a terrible picture... but if you look closer, you'll see something pretty cool.

THERES A FANG IN THE P**P!!!!!

Rattlesnake will shed or replace their fangs every 6-10 weeks on average. They do this for a couple different reasons, it is most obviously to keep their fangs from dulling out or getting clogged. Believe it or not.... that actually happens!!!

So thanks Buzz, our Southern Pacific Rattlesnake, for this amazing example of just another reason Rattlesnakes are so fascinating.

We can't wait for this years CROCtober!!!!
So much so, we are starting the festivities early.
One of those festivities is "Gator Hour". Just like your favorite restaurant that offers "Happy Hour" with specials and extra fun stuff to do. We are no different!
Every weekday from 4-6pm, we are going to have one of amazing alligators out for interaction.
ALONG with double the turtle/tortoise feedings,
feeding our parakeets,
AND even meeting one of our giant pythons!!!
