Dr. Maleki’s Highlander cat, Ernie, is doing his part to make this season extra spooky with his hauntingly adorable Halloween costume. This sweet little ghost, with his unique spirit (and extra-special toes), brings endless joy and laughter to our lives.

Halloween is a time to celebrate the quirky, lovable pet personalities that make us smile and to cherish the simple moments that bring us closer, especially with our kids and furry friends.

For Dr. Baker’s birthday, our team enlisted the help of Steve's band, the Lonesome Jetboat Ramblers, to help create this heartfelt rendition of Tim McGraw's Just To See You Smile. With lyrics by our Practice Manager, Brin, and voices from the entire Habitat team, this song is our gift to the frontman we all love!

Now, more than ever, we lean on each other as a veterinary team.

Just a few days before Steve was transferred to Salt Lake City, Haila and Reed visited him in the ICU. During that visit, Steve wrote “TEAM” on his dry-erase board, reminding us all that we are stronger together.

We’ll honor that message as our Habitat team navigates the weeks and months ahead during Dr. Baker’s road to recovery. His humor, heart and loyalty will inspire and guide us as we press forward, unified as a team. 💚💪

Throwback to one of our favorite moments: Dr. Baker’s heartwarming rendition of a dog-themed 'Hallelujah'. On a particularly tough day during COVID, Dr. Baker sat by the river on his lunch break and jotted down the new lyrics. We were so pleased to capture the adorable moment between Dr Baker and puppy Atta. 🎶🐾 His warmth and humor has never failed to lift our spirits.

Today, we’re holding onto that same spirit of hope and positivity as Dr. Baker prepares to be transported to a stroke rehab facility in Salt Lake City. The road to recovery will be long, but with continued love and support from all of you, we have faith that he can overcome the challenges ahead. If anyone can, it’s Steve R. Baker, DVM!

Dear friends and loyal clients,

With heavy but hopeful hearts, we need to share some difficult news. Dr. Steven R. Baker, our beloved co-founder, veterinarian, and dear friend to many, suffered a stroke on Friday, September 6th. He is currently in critical condition.

Dr. Baker has been a beacon of kindness and care at Habitat Veterinary Hospital, and we know how deeply he has touched the lives of countless people in the Boise community. Please keep him in your thoughts and send all the love and positive energy you can. We believe in the power of prayer and the strength it brings in times like these. Your prayers, love, and support make a profound difference as Steve fights through this challenging time. Love heals! ✨💚✨

You don't have to spend much time outside to notice the extreme heat and the same goes for your pets. There are a few important reminder to think about before you take your dog out into the heat.

Our Treasure Valley community has given us so much, and it's our honor to serve it in every way we can! This past Memorial Day Weekend our team volunteered their time and expertise at the Interfaith Sanctuary Housing Services Resource Fair in partnership with the Idaho Homelessness Impact.

Pets are more than just companions—they are family. For those experiencing homelessness, these loyal animals offer love, comfort, and a sense of normalcy during challenging times. By ensuring their health and well-being, we hope to support both the pets and their human companions, strengthening the bond that provides so much emotional support.
