This gorgeous girl is Spooky. Don't let her beauty fool you. She has had a terribly hard life and has almost died once already. She came into the Vermilion shelter with her four kittens. She was literally a walking skeleton and her babies were thin, frail, and very sick. One died in the shelter before we could get them out. We began feeding her like crazy so she could produce milk to feed her babies as she had no milk when we got her. After a week of syringe feeding her kittens and steadily feeding her, she began to produce milk and the babies began to recover. She herself gradually began to gain weight. Soon the babies were old enough to be fixed. Sadly one of them did not survive her spay surgery. 💔 Spooky herself tested positive for FIV (Feline immunodeficiency virus). 💔 Her remaining two kittens were adopted but Spooky still seemed to be a bit sick. After struggling to help her get better and numerous f***l exams, it was determined that she also suffered from pancreatic enzyme insufficiency. Her pancreas doesn't produce enough enzymes to digest her food properly. We put her on a twice daily supplement and she is so much better. We thought we were over the hump but poor girl came down with terrible stomatitis (mouth infection) a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, this is a common problem for many FIV positive cats and the only permanent solution is a full mouth extraction. Hopefully this will be the final health problems she has and we can focus on finding her a loving home. She is the sweetest cat! Please help us to fund the extraction so she can get better and out of pain. We need to raise $400 for sweet Spooky. Can you help us?
