It has come to our attention that there is an increase in cases of respiratory illness among dogs, and we want to ensure the safety and well-being of your furry family members. To mitigate the risk of your pets contracting this illness, we strongly urge you to take the following precautionary measures:

1. Ensure Up-to-Date Vaccinations: Confirm that your dog's vaccinations are current, including essential vaccines such as kennel cough, parainfluenza, and both strains of canine influenza (H3N2 and H3N8). Vaccinations play a crucial role in preventing the spread of contagious diseases and safeguarding your pet's health.

2. Schedule a Veterinary Check-Up: If your dog's vaccinations are not up to date, or if you have any concerns about their health, we recommend scheduling a prompt visit to your veterinarian. A professional assessment can help identify any potential health risks and provide guidance on the necessary preventive measures.

3. Practice Good Hygiene: Just like with humans, good hygiene practices can significantly reduce the risk of infection. Regularly clean your dog's living environment, including bedding, toys, and bowls. Avoid exposing your dog to environments where the illness may be prevalent, such as crowded dog parks or areas with known outbreaks.

4. Isolate Sick Dogs: If your dog is displaying any signs of illness, such as coughing, sneezing, or lethargy, it's essential to isolate them from other dogs to prevent the spread of the disease. Consult with your veterinarian promptly if you observe any concerning symptoms.

By taking these proactive steps, you are not only protecting your own pets but also contributing to the overall health and safety of our entire pet community. Together, we can create a supportive and secure environment for our furry friends.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our customer service team. Your diligence in ensuring your pet's well-being is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and let's work together to keep our canine companions happy, healthy, and thriving.

With the 4th of July coming up quickly, we see many dogs who experience noise phobias. We have medications that can help lessen the stress over the noisy holiday week! Please call if you have the need to give your dog medication to manage noise phobias. It is also important to keep your dog inside for the holiday, have a "safe spot" for your dog to hide to feel more secure, and help with music turned on inside to distract him or her from outdoor noises. Also, please, please allow time for the medications to be filled--we often need at least a day's notice for the week of the 4th of July due to high demand for appointments, medications, and other services! Be safe, everyone.

February is National Pet Dental month! Don't postpone getting your pet's oral health addressed. We are offering $50 off all dental procedures in February, so give us a call at 630-759-0093 to set up an appointment for a dental evaluation and estimate!

Save a Heart! Help our shelter dogs receive heartworm prevention! From now until the end of February, every purchase of a 12-month supply of Heartgard will result in the donation of a heartworm prevention dose to a shelter by the Heartgard manufacturer Boehringer-Ingelheim. We will be assembling a poster board of Polaroid-style photos of all the dogs who have contributed to the donations in February, so be ready to make your dog famous!

This afternoon, some of you may have noticed your dogs squinting when they went outside, and it may be concerning to you. What they were demonstrating were merely benign reactions to what has been a rare weather phenomenon this January, called the sun. It should resolve once we resume normal cloudy weather beginning tomorrow.

12/30/2022

Our veterinary services will be closed from Saturday, December 31 through Monday, January 2 in observance of the holiday. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, January 3.

This man was forced to give his dog to the Humane Society due to undergoing lengthy hospital stay.

This nurse found out and immediately went to the shelter and adopted his dog.

She brings him to visit daily and will return him as soon as the man is released!❤️
