Passing on "Very Good to Know" general information on colic. It's difficult to make spur of the moment decisions so it's best to have predetermined if you are able to get your horse to an equine hospital and be somewhat financially prepared just in case (I use Care Credit).
* There are times when only surgery can possibly save your horse's life. In the case of my 26yr old stallion Batuque de Miami, surgery removed a grapefruit sized calcium ball which allowed him 3 more precious years to live his best life and father 4 more offspring. In the case of my 30yr old mare, pre-surgery disclosed that fatty tumors had cut off the circulation of her intestines and she most likely would not survive so I had to humanely let her go under anesthesia. No matter what, it's heartbreaking to lose each one.π
