MERRY CHRISTMAS from our Chestnut Hills family to yours 🎄🎁

2024 has been an amazing year, with so much success, and so many great accomplishments! Many big dreams were made a reality this year from a first World Cup Finals, to a first Grand Prix for some, to many top medal finals placings on both coasts with so many kids! As we look back and review the year behind us, we are beyond grateful for our family, friends, and most importantly the four legged animals we love the most! Excited to see all the goals and dreams we work towards in the 2025 season!

Chestnut Hills would like to congratulate and on the lease of the lovely “Colany 9” aka Rex! We are excited to see all the things they accomplish and follow their journey! In just the short few months that we had Rex back from his previous lease, he earned top 25 at Dover Finals with a catch ride and Won the CPHA Style of Riding Finals with a different catch ride! Thank you to and the Carmody family for the best little Rex!

Please help Sarah Keith Dowling get back on her feet after suffering a lot of damage from Hurricane Helene. She has horses and dogs, and no power and lots of trees down making daily life and cleanup a challenge. As a former San Diego area horsewoman, I’m hoping everyone can help even just a little.

Congratulations to our IEA Teams for a great day at Elvenstar! The middle school team was Champion and the High School team was Res Champion! Way to go everyone! A big thanks to Lily Muzzy for heading up the team and helping all the newer members at their first away show! And thanks to Maya and Kate and their moms for helping everyone as well! Chestnut Hills Equestrian Center would not be the same without this hard working young lady who also makes us laugh all the time! So proud to be on this journey with Taryn, and so incredibly grateful to everyone that has helped and supported her along with us, from giving her opportunities to ride lovely horses to giving her show clothes to make this all a reality. HUGE congratulations are in order for Taryn and Crunch K for their big win this week in the 2024 Inaugural YSJF U25 Challenge, American Jumping Style of Riding!

Taryn led from wire to wire in the 1.20-1.25m section and had the highest score in the horse swap phase where she traded onto the lovely stallion, Change Up PS, owned by to ultimately secure her the overall championship!

Earning consistently impressive scores of 86.5 (flat/gymnastics), 86 (jumping phase), 88 (first testing phase), and 89 (horse swap phase to ultimately finish on a score of 478.75 and the win by over a 12 point margin! We are so proud of Taryn and all of her hard work and dedication to earn such prestigious Championships!

This class was a very unique opportunity with lots of room for learning to help the younger generation continue to develop their riding to reach the top of the sport! The format was created similarly to the USET Talent Search Finals, with a combined deNemethy prep (flat and gymnastics) phase for round 1. Followed the next day by a jumping round offered at various heights of 1.10-1.15m and 1.20-1.25m to be judged based on effectiveness of the rider to execute a technical jumper course with elements from the Paris 2024 Olympics with a tight time allowed. Such wonderful course design for all 3 phases was done by Karen Healey! Thank you to the Youth Show Jumping Foundation for creating an important feature class that is filled with learning opportunities for the riders to grow and expand their knowledge! Looking forward to having kids compete in this class in the future!

We are so proud of for another incredible week on both horses!

Cielo and Claire moved up to the 1.30m Jr Jumpers and had fantastic rounds all week including a clear in the SJHOF West Finals Medium Jr Classic for a 3rd place finish!

Raffaello and Claire had multiple top placings in the 3’3 and 3’6 Eq this week including a big win in the WCE medal!

We enjoyed having Claire down here for a fun filled two weeks and can’t wait for the future!

Last week was quite the banner week for .mcentire in both the jumper and equitation rings! We are so proud of Taryn for earning top ribbons across the equitation, Medal Finals, and up through her first 1.40m jumpers ever!

Chavetto PS and Taryn jumped their very first 1.40m classes ever this week with great success finishing off the week on a high note, WINNING the SJHOF 1.40m High Jr/Am Classic as the only one to jump clear over a big track!

After a fantastic week in the Equitation aboard Crunch K with a win in the WIHS Overall, this pair put in a top round in Maclay Regionals to finish 10th overall and punch their ticket to Kentucky! They finished off the week with an incredible round in the Dover as well as a stunning work off to win this competitive medal!

Karen also played a part in Taryn’s first ever 1.40m this week with a top ribbon in the high classic and their first ever Markel Welcome class! Endless thank you’s to .eq and for the rides on Crunch and Karen!

Flipper Lady was a new mount this week for Taryn and they won their first 1.30m class out the gate by over a second! Lady is proudly offered for sale and looking for her next kid!

Huge congratulations to Taryn on a fantastic week and a great step up to the 1.40m jumpers! Excited for another fun week of Blenheim ahead 🔜

The west coast is in a difficult position right now with USEF (and the East) single handedly deciding our show schedule without asking for input from competitors or trainers from our own coast. PCHA is working to create an advisory committee that can serve as a liaison to USEF so that our west coast membership actually has a say in our schedule. If you can, please sign the petition.
